Instead of essentially ghetto-rigging a surround rig for over a grand, why not actually buy the speakers? Now granted, I understand the desire (or lack of ability) to not have a bunch of speakers hanging out, but targetting to a "mass market?" Strange, how many folks have a need for something like that?
Although it's true that 1,000 won't get you close to a hot system, you can definitely do some damage... and I'd have to believe that it'd sound much better for the price.
