And then, even less likely maybe he set it as a wallpaper or just displayed the images fully in his phone?

Gotta love that black marker on top to mask the prototype ID.
Unfortunately, it reads HD677. Somebody's up for some spanking.
As much as I love PALM, it the Treo now runs WM, we might as well go with the iPaq hw6515. Smaller, faster, no antenna, built-in GPS and Mini-SD AND SD.
I believe this is a true treo windows mobile 5.0 running. But I think this was made during the PalmOne period (before Colligan). Its not logical for Palm to get the PALM brand name back from Palmsource and then release a windows mobile treo a few months after the acquisition. They would've wasted $30M for that "brand". As stated by Mr. Paul Blinkhorn in asia.cnet.com, and I quote (when asked about a WM treo) "Today, we believe that the best OS (operating system) for customers is the Palm OS. Why? If you compare us with any other OS, there is no comparison--this is the most intuitive and easy-to-use OS available, and we think this is the right product for us now." If ever Palm will release any windows mobile phones, it may do so in the future. But not today.

The BIG problem here is that Palm must think that a Windows Mobile environment is a desirable one. Trying to configure network connections, setting up a cellular modem, even trying to configure remote syncing, or installing other software is like, well, it's like trying to do all that on a Windows PC! Windows Mobile on a Palm device? YUK!
Wow the company that created Palm OS is now bending knees to Microsoft.
Definitely Apple is next. First they changed to x86 Intel just like windows, now they created a Windows compatible two button mouse. NExt they will dump mac and start using Windows Vista!
If it did not had that sqr screen it would be a very large device or it would not had that cool keyboard
This phone has one major thing over the HP 6500 - WM 5.0!
It delivers on the POS Treo advantages (one handed usage, non-volatile OS), while adding other features such as "push" activesync, and a pile of API changes. If I had to choose between a wm2003se HP phone, and a WM5 palm phone, Palm, here I come.
My theory as to why the HD677 id wasn't covered up in the first place and remains still visible: this is a publicity stunt from Palm or Verizon to get people hyped about this. If it is, it certainly worked!
Given the bigger type sample from the "The phone has not been activated." image, it's clear that the resolution of the phone is 240 pixels across and, presumably, 240 pixels high. That sucks. I'll stick to my nice, high-res 320x320 650, thanks.
I was scepticle for a minute too, thinking "what if this is a screen shot." But then i looked at the hardware buttons, if he faked those, then he is DAMN good. The hardware buttons seal the deal for me, this puppy is for real!
I hope this is what the Verizon Girl was reffering to when I returned my 650 this week and she suggested waiting a couple weeks for some announcements. I was asking her advice about trying anouther one or waitng for something better. I sure hope so but I'm a bit skeptical they would 1) roll in such a major change and only make a small incremental change to the model number 2) Even more surprising if Version had it out of the chute. I hope they prove me wrong.
I alos hope it has a better radio in it, the reception just wasn't cutting it here in steamboat Springs even thought our service is generally excellent.
Thank you for, yet again, plastering your vomit-inducing, poorly designed, insulting-to-real-designers branding/logo all over your new Treo. I believe that heavy heavy discounts on your equipment is in order since your customers are basically walking billboards, especially with a logo on the REAR of all the phones as well. I thought this was a practice limited to your cellular phone business, but when an installer slapped 3 (three) big Verizon stickers on the small *power adapter* for my T1 line's router, I believe graphic designers all over the world felt the anguish.
What does Verizon even mean? Sounds like a disease - "Hey man, ya know my Verizon is acting up again, but I just slapped some ointment on that shiz and it died down."
Indeed, perhaps some ointment on your "shiz" is exactly what is in order, maybe it would cover up the logo. Funny thing is, I'd probably be a Verizon customer instead of a Sprint customer, but as a graphic designer, my soul could not take owning a product with the worst branding ever unleashed on this planet.
If the Treo design has a center button (its like ok button) why they add an extra OK button?
I still have some questions about the photos, because they can take some screentshots from a PocketPC and view it in full screen mode in that Treo prototype as I did it in this post: http://www.pdamexico.net/content/view/78/ I put some PalmOS 6 screenshots in my Zire 71.
#31: she was probably saying you should wait a few weeks until they got devices with the new firmware update on them to fix MMS issues, etc.

Your "verizon girl" is still a sales rep, and doesn't know jack about product releases, most of the time they dont tell reps about phone releases until the day it comes out. #2: the OS resets itself when you sync data to the phone that is corrupted or does not match the phone model in your backup folder.
try hard resetting your device, renaming the backup folder in your palmone// directory and resyncing the device.
that usually fixes that problem 99% of the time, the other 1% have a bad phone.
