M3 GameBoy Advance Movie Player for Nintendo DS
M3 is saying they're about to unleash the SD/CF cartridge they've developed specifically for
Nintendo DS hardware that brings the goodness
of the GBA Movie Player to that console. The device plugs
into your DS and lets you watch movies, listen to music, view images and e-books, and play NDS and GBA game ROMs. No
price is yet listed, but the developers appear to be aiming for a release in the next few weeks.

Well, I find the NDS to be better than PSP, in terms of games. I only rate consoles and handhelds by their potential as gaming devices, and not as a multimedia device.
You see, recent games lack originality and offer the same type of game experiences (i.e: all of the shooting games offer similar controls and gameplay, only differing in details like graphics, maps, characters, and weapons.). My point is that the NDS is something new. With its touch screen and the mike, it can offer a whole new level of gameplay. True that as of now, it lacks games that utilizes the touch screen to its full potential. Nintendogs is a great start, not forgetting Kirby:CC and Warioware. It's kind of hard to understand for PSP supporters who havn't tried the DS, but I'm pretty sure the NDS supporters understands my point.
I'm planning on getting this for the Homebrew ROMs.
I'm eagerly awaiting WinDS and other Games/Applications, and since it can do NES games as well, it will be fun to try out Grand Theftendo if it ever comes out.
Playing NES and SNES games on DS sounds even better than video and mp3. Just think of the number of games that adds to DS library.
We just have to hope the M3's emulators are up to snuff. I'm especially skeptical about SNES compatability, several games require the emulation of extra chips (Star Fox, Yoshi's Island, and Mega Man X2 and 3, for example) and the homebrew community has yet to perfect an SNES emulator on ANY handheld, let alone the DS. If the emulators are decent, it'll be awesome, that's for sure. But it might be a good idea to wait until someone can get a hands-on review of this thing.
In response to the compatability comment above me, there is a pretty decent handheld multisystem emulator for the palm OS called LJP, and it plays yoshi's island pretty well, however I am not sure if it would run well on the NDS but it is possible. Also for all you homebrew developers out there I believe it is open source so it could be ported.
Pocket PC can do a lot more than PSP or DS, but if the price is not right the one with less features but the best price for the value will win.
Um, guys the PSP is reaaallly bad, errors fresh out of every box. We have had so many returns on those units. The DS is actually quite interesting. Its like being able to play in a way that no other system can.
As for what you guys were saying about the psp has better graphics? Hahahah the psp ghosts and has retarded slow responce time. When ever i played the DS although the graphics still look sweet on that small screen. It seemed to me that Nintendo had mastered the portible device technolgy.
Anyway who care that the psp can play movies and all that bs. Honestly your retarded too if you buy one...then buy movies. Cause i just bought a 24$ Movie player for some Jink san company and it lets me put in Compact Flash Cards....(really cheap. cheaper then SD) all the way up to 1 gig. And i can just download movies on to my computer, downsize them into asf's and take em with me on trips. Then i still have the great DS battery life compared to one and a half videos on my PSP.
As for the guy who was talking about palm pilots being good... ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Lol. This christmas Nintendo releases a program to make the DS literally a pocket organizer/pc.
So even if you are right.
Then the DS seems to win doesnt it?
Booo On PSP , but nice try Sony.
Go Nintendo but Revolution is going to blow.
Ds all the way
There is now a hands on review - http://rampen.ca/leo/blog/?page_id=7

wow by the sounds of it, its like sony and nintendo are paying u guys to say this stuff.
#59, u've obviously never played with a high end palm before. it has a higher res screen than a psp and can play almost any video file without any type of conversion. download a movie, stick it on ure memory card and watch it.
i have the ds and psp and i like them both, both has their strengths but it depends on the type of games u play
ne ways back on topic, i have a similar card and its awesome. ds roms are about 32mb so with a 1gb card u can fit everygame u want to play on it
Wow gotta comment here. I know everyone is skeptical about this but I have high hopes. I have the last model for the gbamovie player, codecs are not an issue for anytype of media. I can convert straight from dvd or divx (havent really found anything I cant convert). Video quality is very good and on cartoons its pretty much unoticable that its even compressed. I can fit more than 8 hours on a 1gb cf (digi camera card).
Seriously if you have a ds and would like video or mp3s the old one ruled as it was but if this new one can pull it off with ds loading then it will rule all.
I wont get in the debate on whats the better console but Ive had no trouble in finding a nonstop collection of great fun games to play.
I don't why i'm bothering with this, butm I have the M3 now and it works perfect. Have fun with your craps
