Logitech QuickCam Fusion adds improved performance, cheesy effects
Logitech has updated their signature
QuickCam webcam to a new version
that the company touts as having a "true" 1.3 megapixel resolution for still shots (meaning no interpolation),
enhancements to improve low-light performance and audio quality, a handy monitor clip, and a wide-angle lens with a
78-degree field of view (great if you have more than one person on your end who wants to get in on a call; bad if your
room's a mess and you'd rather not have it be visible). The $99.99 QuickCam Fusion also comes with some new software,
which we assume Logitech has developed for the business market: Video Effects lets you create 3D avatars that mimic
your facial expressions, and also allows you to add effects to your own onscreen image. We're hoping it can erase that
three-day growth of stubble and the circles under our eyes, but that might be asking for too much.

Does anyone have any experience using one of these on Windows AIM video chatting with someone on iChat AV on Tiger?
went to a roadshow about a week ago and saw this in action. (Logitech were one of the companys that appeared) The logitech lady phoned one her friends on msn to demonstrate. The video effects are amazing. you can change your face into a shark, for example and the eyes, mouth and eyebrows of the shark match your facial movements. she said it should be out in the next few weeks so should appear in stores soon!
I am considering this too. Pretty amazing effects too, I especially thought the mapping effects on the poker cards one is good! http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=218&subcategory=219&product=13751
It looks like a new product, has anyone bought this?
Can't find anything on Logictech site about the effects yet.
I have the new QuickCam Fusion camera. The problem I have with it is that when I am on MS Messenger people say my face is blurry. The camera I had installed before I got the Fusion camera was an Intel CS430 and all the reports I got on MS Messenger said my picture was crystal clear, but not on the Fusion camera. I don't know if I got a lemon or not. I may take it back to BestBuy amd stay with my Intel.
I was one of the first to order the Fusion directly from Logitech. The picture was horrible compared to my cheap Quickcam Messenger. I tried the Customer Support route and even though they say they will respond within 24 hours, after four days there was no response. I located the email address of the CEO and sent him a message. Within 48 hours, I had a new Fusion on my doorstep and they picked up the "old" one. The "new" one worked perfectly. Then about three days later, I get a response from Customer Support that my unit is bad and to return it to point of purchase. I actually have had excellent service from my other Logitech hardware but this is the first time I've ever had to communicate with Customer Support. Grade: Customer Support "F", CEO "A"

Quickcam Fusion still use CMOS sensor.
Does it mean its 'true' 1.3M quality won't be better than the previous CCD model (QuickCam Pro 4000)?
I assume CCD sensor works much better in low light condition than CMOS sensor?
