Logitech's new S 510 wireless media desktop set
The crew at Logitech aren't amateurs when it comes to
wireless desktop sets
and media remotes, areas of
expertise they've combined into a single bundle with their new S 510 wireless desktop. No Bluetooth here (sorry, 27MHz
proprietary wireless), but the remote has the same WinAmp, Windows Media Player, iTunes, and Musicmatch playback
control as you've come to expect, and the usual slew of multimedia-centric keys. Expect it to set you back a hundred if
you get the full set, or eighty for the version without the remote (and receiver).
[Thanks, AJ]

Wow... must have...
This is pretty.
*adds to list of things to get for media PC*
That one is cool...but this one is cooler :) http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/CA/EN,CRID=2158,CONTENTID=10777
Although I have already made that combo manually but without the bluetooth :)
But do the browser dependent keyboard buttons work with Firefox? I have a 1-year old keyboard from Logitech and they have yet to release a firmware upgrade which would allow its browser dependent buttons to work using Firefox. If this is how they support their keyboards which aren't that old, I'd be weary of purchasing another keyboard from them
Wow, this looks really cool, but I just bought a keyboard from Newegg for $5 and
I am not ready to invest anymore money in keyboards.
Does it work with MythTV?
not for Mac? boo
A lot of these new Logitech keyboards are really cool. Until recently I used Logitech keyboards almost exclusively. But now they have that giant delete key and the whole layout is messed up. The only keyboards you can get with the standard layout are cheap crap. Also the keyboards take up way too much space. I'm trying to open up more desk space with two LCDs.
That's why I got the Happy Hacking Keyboard Black USB Lite 2. It's small as hell and it's a USB hub. If I'm going to change layouts I'm going to change to a better one, not a worse one. I got one at work and at home, my hands were never happier.
Of course, I still have a Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse. Also, I run Linux so a lot of these Logitech features don't really go for me.
Ewww, that is one ugly mouse and keyboard. Logitech isn't known for their pretty hardware.
I want a way to make the laser mouse work with my current dinovo BT setup. =(
Jaxim, update your logitech "SetPoint" software to the latest version. Firefox works when their SetPoint software is loaded. Its simply a matter of the older software not supporting the browser.

Would the remote also work for BeyondTV or GB-PVR?
MrE, the thing is that my keyboard came with the iTouch software, not the SetPoint software.
And as far as I know, I cannot use the SetPoint software with the keyboard I have. I have contacted Logitech's Technical Support and they have told me that the new keyboards have the SetPoint software, but they did not instruct me to install it with the keyboard I am using.
My point is still valid, even though the new keyboards are compatible with Firefox, what other new technologies won't they be compatible with once they stop supporting and updating this new SetPoint software, (just as they have stopped supporting and updating the only software with which my keyboard works)?
Man their dinovo keyboard didn't support Macs and now this one too. Meanwhile Apple comes up with the corny Mighty Mouse.
MIGHTY MOUSE!!!! *explodes*
That keyboard is pretty but because of the way the enter key is made I will not get it. I like my enter key to be the reversed 'L' shape unless the keyboard is of course godly then I would be willing to change but this one isn't. This laptop should come with pre-built computers (for those who never heard of tigerdirect or newegg lol).
Is it too much though to ask someone to combine an RF wireless remote with a universal IR remote. if you are using this in a media center setup you still want to be able to control your video inputs and reciever inputs/volume without getting off the couch...
Has logitech just given up on Mac support completely? None of their new stuff works with the Mac. This started with the DiNovo Bluetooth edition and they said that was because they didn't want to port their bluetooth software to OS X. Fine. What about all this new stuff that doesn't use bluetooth though?
Actually, it is a good idea to use their proprietary wireless instead of Bluetooth.
First, the Bluetooth can be a bit flaky, with a noticeable lag when typing into the keyboard at times. I have a non-gaming PC with the diNovo Bluetooth setup, and another with the MX1000 laser mouse. The laser mouse works perfectly, and can last for days before needing to be recharged on the stand. The Bluetooth mouse is dead in a few hours, and if left off the charger (even though not being used, with the PC off) will drain its charge within a day.
I've had the S510 Wireless Desktop Media Remote for a couple of days now, and let me just say that it looks amazing. Much better in person than the photos. Even my wife was wowed by this design.
There are lots of good things here: (a) the MediaLife software is actually very nice and almost as intuitive as a TiVo user interface, which is to say it's much better than I had expected, (b) the remote control is also decent and works through doors and walls from a respectable distance (I tried 12-15 feet), (c) it's easy to re-configure the keyboard to call iTunes, and the mouse to navigate within FireFox using Alt+Left and Alt+Right keystroke assignments, (d) I was able to replace a KVM switch necause of this... I simply remove the USB receiver from the desktop to the laptop and hey presto, both the keyboard and mouse work perfectly. I didn't even need to install any softare or drivers... Neat, (e) it all looks amazing.
As always, there are a few disappointments as well. First of all: (a) some keys are softer than others and make different noises when depressed, (b) the mouse is too small and unergonomic to be comfortable, (c) the remote uses a roller for up/down, which works great but feels very awkward when navigating left/right... learn from TiVo dudes!, (d) the media controls on the keyboard and remote have no glow factor at all, so you can't find them easily in the dark, (e) on the keyboard the zoom is on the left and the volume is on the right, on the remote it's the other way around... bizarre, (f) silly oversized Delete key and misplaced Home/End keys keep getting in the way, (g) it's not Bluetooth based.
Overall, very nice set and I'm definitely keeping it. I might get the laser mouse though.
I'm using the S510 with a Mac, just plugged it in and it works pretty well. Not all the features, but most.
Hi, can you at least use the remote for controlling iTunes? And can the remote go through walls?
