Microsoft and Texas Instruments agree: video iPod in 2005

We're really doing our best to try and go more than 25 minutes without a video iPod story, but we couldn't resist. First, apparently people at MS and TI were saying, according to Cnet, that "Apple will more than likely be one of two companies announcing portable video players before the end of January 2006." Uh, they must mean "more than likely more than twenty"—haven't they ever read the portable video Engadget site? Then a VP at TI takes it a step further and says that there's no reason Apple couldn't release a video iPod from "a chip standpoint." Uh, yeah. Let's just say we wouldn't be all that terribly surprised if Apple just made the video iPod a simple firmware upgrade on the iPod photo / color—seriously, has the video iPod debate ever been about the hardware with Jobs? Nope! So basically all these talking heads are saying there could / would / should be a video iPod by the end of the year. Fine, sure, now can we get on with our lives pretty please?
