Cheap 32-inch LCDs coming to Best Buy and Wal-Mart

Dollar sign

You'll have to wait until the fourth quarter of this year, but expect to see 32-inch LCD TVs for $999 at Best Buy and Wal-Mart. Just in time for the holiday season, several Taiwan manufacturers will deliver the sets for under a grand. Best Buy likely sells a good chunk of HDTVs here in the United States, but with this announcement Wal-Mart should increase their piece of the HD pie.

I don't typically think of Wal-Mart as my electronics retailer of choice. I have nothing against Wal-Mart; in fact, there are plenty of items I purchase there. The issue is that their business model focuses on lower priced items, so you don't see the latest and greatest technologies there. Is that all about to change as HDTV prices continue to decline?
