The Wave TV conjoins microwave and TV
You know, the topic of convergence devices is a hot one, and it doesn't get too much hotter than this. Marcel Wanders' line of home entertainment products for Holland Electro includes this beaut — the Wave TV includes a TFT television screen right in the door, so you'll never get bored again when it's your night to cook. It also includes an inegrated DVD player, although we can't really imagine anything that needs that much cooking time. Also, no word on whether the chicken comes included.
[Thanks, Shane]

I guess you can now watch your favorite episode of Iron Chef while heating up the mac n cheez
Keirmeister @ Dec 19th 2005 1:25AM
I guess that gives "TV Dinners" a whole new meaning?
(TM) No one can steal this obvious joke from me know!

I would so buy one of these. I have a small TV in the kitchen to watch whatever I was watching in the living room when I'm cooking. And think of how popular this would be with college students for dorm rooms!

Cue the big cock jokes?

Using a microwave is called cooking ?
OHG the civilisation is definitly dying
Try cooking a "coq au vin" in a MW :)
Well i guess reheating "instant fries" and a fat and hormones rich burger watching jerry springler is a progress :-)

I'm sure people will make fun of this, but this seems ideal if you live in an efficiency apartment or something. I don't, but I'm sure someone saw this and was happy that they could reclaim some more inches in their cave.

put a toilet and a bed in there somewhere and you'd have a winner

I'm sure this'll spawn a whole new set of stations.
The one minute movie show.

this would be amazing for dorms and small office spaces that want a tv and a microwave. any word on what the microwave radiation does to the tft screen?
steve @ Dec 19th 2005 1:25AM
"any word on what the microwave radiation does to the tft screen?"
it shouldnt have any.
Mike @ Dec 19th 2005 1:25AM
Ok, so let's further geekify this thing...you know what it should have? an inward facing camera so that you hit a button on the television and see what's happening in the microwave! (this would actually be a quasi-logical application of a camera in the kitchen as opposed to that refrigerator that had an LCD television and a digital camera that would take photos)...I mean what the hell are you taking pictures of with a fixed camera facing out from the refrigerator? (in the store, all people were doing was taking pictures of themselves)
kevin @ Dec 19th 2005 1:25AM
you mean i'm the only one who's thoroughly entertained by a glowing, rotating plate of leftovers? you don't need a TV for incentive to stare into the front of a microwave...
Google Nazi @ Dec 19th 2005 1:25AM
I like to look at my food from the outside while its cooking, thank you very much!
ps.. nice cock!
TC @ Dec 19th 2005 1:25AM
#13 That's actually a very cool idea Mike, and taking the idea further add Tivo fuctionality so you could record the bar of soap you stick in the Microwave and replay the moment it explodes over and over again.

lollercoaster kevin.

For people who have a TV next to the diner table, this is a great thing. It sure beats that Epson HDTV/Printer that was at the last CES or the one before it... And I don't care what people say, the TV refridgerator is a stupid idea.
However, I like to keep an eye on stuff I'm microwaving. I personally have no idea on how long to microwave stuff, so I like to keep an eye on it in case it burns/bursts into flames. Does it have a camera or something? I know that clear screens are too far off for them to be in this, right? But if they do have that, then this is a work of genius.

I came up with this idea around the first of the year but didn't have the $grand$ to get a patent. Damm! Will be great for use on small to medium sized yachts (50 -100 feet) where LCD / TV's are hard to locate where they won't take up so much room. RD
