Kodak EasyShare V570: exclusive pics
This one's not yet been announced, but reader Jayson was kind enough to send in some shots of this new EasyShare V570 from Kodak. It'll join the V530 and V550 in the Kodak Pocket Series, and is rocking 5 megapixels, 5X Dual Optical Ultrawide lenses, 5X zoom without requiring lens extension, a 2.5-inch display, included docking station, and an SD slot for storage. No word on price yet, but more eye candy after the jump.

Must be the ugliest digicam i've ever seen... Why the 2 lenses?
That thing is so ugly you would think Creative made it!
to paul, i'd have to say, its a generic box with stuff on it, so its more like an apple design. only that its black
and yeah its ugly, but that sounds frickin awesome! 5x non extending... and the dual optical wide angle shit seems pretty damn cool... just have to wait and see what its all about!
nice to see kodak isnt resting on its laurels
Sounds like one lens is "ultra wide" and one is "5x", which in themselves are completely meaningless, but anyway.. Nothing in between, or so I would guess.
Ultra wide would be maybe 20mm focal length, so the other 100mm? Either way, it's a Kodak Queasy Share. Leave it for the soccer moms, nobody here really cares..... right? Please?
it nothing like and apple product, apple products made with good materials that just looks butchered together!!
What is happening to digital camera first the sny T series then Samsung’s Digimax i5 the other day now this god awful thing!!!
Must be me... but it looks like it fell out of a truck.
Looks like Kodak's Industrial Designers had no creativity and decided to take the "retro" approach. Kodak is going for the "Brownie" look:

Ugly, yes. It's a Kodak so probably not stellar picture quality either. But hopefully other manufacturers will jump on the 5x train, if nothing else! That's brilliant and a welcome step up!
Whether or not you find this camera ugly, it's 5 megapixels that will fit very nicely into your pocket. Of course, I wouldn't buy a Kodak either. The new Canon S80 (http://digitalcameras.engadget.com/entry/1234000073055422/) would probably be my choice, or perhaps the Lumix DMC-LX1 (http://digitalcameras.engadget.com/entry/1234000807055137/).
Great Design, a welcome change from those over the top designed japanese cameras. Plus they all look the same. I'm sure it will look sleek when anounce. It seems that they got some great technology going for them too. Kodak its now beating most everyone else all over the world, anyway.
Wow, I'm in the minority here, but I love the way its looks. It looks like Porsche design stuff -- hard, angular, German, glossy.
Was worried that my Kodak V550 arriving today what look outdated. No longer worried...
Well I think it looks nice.
Hum
I really like the way it looks too :( WAit on pricing though, i guess.
looks like a gameboy micro, that's not a bad thing.
looks like a canon digital elph ripoff... but ugly.
i think the 2 lenses are there to handle the 5X zoom, one lens handles the wide-angle and the other the telephoto. Otherwise it would have been difficult to fit a 5X optical zoom into such a small case
The back looks like a VAIO U series!!!

Why does everyone always immediately mention that something "looks ugly"? are you gay? I mean really, how much does the way something looks effect how it performs? dont you use a camera to take pictures? its not a fasion accesory. how gay.
This camera looks like nothing out there, and this is why I'm intrigued and attracted to it. I don't agree with those who say that it looks like a Canon and a Sony camera. Plus who cares about these two companies anyway, in the last two years they have lost so many consumers, the majority of them to companies like Kodak.
I will make my final opinion when I see a final version of it. I will not create an opinion based on a beat up prototype of work in-progress that some of Kodak's competition uploaded to help themselves.
These site should be bigger than these.
I'm studying design, and I like this one..
Yeah, I think anyone who's studied design at all (myself included) recognizes the cool design of this thing right away - guaranteed to be a good seller with fashion elite, and I haven't read about it's technology yet but it looks like it has something cool going on so I'ma go read about it now...
@cameraman:
Are you gay, that you try to make everything about being gay?
How stupid.
I am gay, yes, I like things to look nice, like everybody else on this planet. But maybe you're a little bit queer in that expect.
I like the design. But for me the most important thing is image quality and ergonomics.
If good images and good handling come from a nice looking camera, than that's a plus.
How gay of me.
Jeez, get a life.
I've got a friend at Kodak and I managed to handle one of these babies and test it out. The picture quality is amazing, and it looks really amazing. Besides, I've seen enough of those grey/silver Canon/Fuji/Sony cameras to make me want to vomit. The black and chrome look is very American industrial (very Harley Davidson even). This is a piece of machinery, and that's how it's designed, unlike those other companies that think they're making plastic toys for tots.
That's a nice big LCD. Too bad no one was supposed to see it for another 4 months. I reckon whoever took these pictures is in deep doodoo.
That's the coolest and best looking digicamera I've seen for a long time. Sharp, industrial design that makes the cute round and bubbly stuff most other companys put out look awful. But as usual, tech-guys tend to have a staggering lack of taste...
For the children who mouth off too much: I'm gay. I don't watch Martha Stewart, or Will & Grace. I have no live flowers in my home. I drive a gas guzzling SUV and shove my middle finger out the window at soccer mom drivers who drive like crap, then come home to pay my taxes. I could care less how a camera LOOKS, so please get off your juvenile assheads about people "being gay" if they do - it's only the straight yuppies who care. I do care about good photo quality, and since it's a Kodak, it probably won't have that. But this will probably only be sold in Europe anyway (by the way, where everyone IS gay).
Some of you guys want to knock it down JUST because its a Kodak...that a shame because you're really missing out on some good products from Rochester. You haven't seen one shot from this camera and you're already knocking its photo quality. Furthermore I think it looks good. Nice and sleek...not like the cookie cutter designs that all of the other manufacturers seem to favor. I totally agree with jack
kodak does it again. this camera, along with the DX and the new P series, all look like winners. camera snobs dismiss the kodak brand, but it gives the public what it wants...well built, competitively priced, stylish, easy to use cameras that take pictures with rich colors.
kodak is becoming a cool brand!
Andrew Anissi, who is your friend who works at Kodak? I have a friend who works there too. Is he/she a designer?
Hmph Ump, how do you know this was not supposed to be seen for another 4 months? Do you know when Kodak will actually come out with this?
Wow, its obvious Kodak isn't taking a back seat in the camera world. I see a lot of ignorance on this site. I’m willing to bet, if the badge said Sony and this was a final production shot with all the bells and whistles lit up the reaction to the design would be much different. Open your minds. . . this is a poor attempt by a Kodak hater to bash what im guessing, will be the first of its kind. hmmmmmm . . . wonder what those dual lenses are all about? Kodak is legitimate. They are proving to be a leader when it comes to cameras with clean design, user-friendly interface and high image quality. That’s ok though, I’m not going to stop you from spending an extra hundred to buy a name and ok image quality.
Wow, the LCD on that thing looks HUGE! Overall I think the camera looks pretty damn sexy. I'm not sure if it's for me but my girlfriend would love this! It definitely has that James Bond appeal. I don't understand the 'ugly' comments - but maybe its because it's different. This kinda reminds me of that Maybach Excelero concept car -
http://car-reviews.automobile.com/Maybach/picture/2005-maybach-exelero-concept/1233/
As far as the design is concerned...it is sleek, retro, smooth
As far as the image quality and useful I beleive it will be poor, not very useful, clusmy, and a poor seller unless that f'in consumer reports tells the retarded masses to buy it. If neither of the lenses have control over the zoom, it will be fairly worthless to most people. and with two small lenses, don't expect good low light capabilities...bad move on Kodak's part, too little too late, just like the Easyshare ONE...but thats another rant for another time...
Recently on sale, its price is RMB3350, at Shanghai, China.
Personally, I think Kodak is starting recognize that the 'sweet spot' for camera sales is "soccer moms, grammas, and my wife, who is techno-phobic. The v570 is innovative with a hybrid X5 zoom that also offers 23mm wide angle capabilities, a 2.5" LCD display, and all packaged in a case that doesn't cram the controls all on the right side. Style is subjective, but it's definitely not the soap bar design that most Japanese camera follow.
I just hope that Kodak's lens are sharp and the CCDs produce low noise pictures.
This is a beautifully designed object. It is way ahead of it's time, both in design and function. It reminds me of those old sturdy cameras from the 20th century.
The on-board panorama stitching facility will make it a very welcome addition to my DX 6490.
i like the design spin, i mean the design direction.
i appreciate the fact that they made to fit all the tech into a straight perimeter.
i think for designers in kodak has been a hard job to do to fit the screen and the two lenses in the same position... well that proves new technology push.
i dont like the fact that the front and the back seem to belong to a different camera. the back is too "japanese PUI (product user interface) camera" when the front is a shoot to a "retro stile".
over all i like it, i think it will stand up, may be for short time, i dunno, but i think the double lens is a good marketing tool, may be better camera for fashion victims, rather than akihabara people.
(for the record: i do industrial designer for a copetitor and i think ill buy it, i like it.)
ciao
I'm totally diggin this look. Very industrial and sleek. If the photo quality is good, I'm def. picking one up.
