Philips' SMS pillow
Why whisper sweet nothings when you can just text them? Philips Research has cooked up a number of prototypes for photonic textile fabrics that they'll be showing off at the Internationale Funkausstellung 2005 (which sounds like a rave but we're guessing is likely a more staid type of event) in Berlin, and one of them is this SMS pillow. You send a text message to it and the words scroll across the pillow, thanks to flexible arrays of multicolored LEDs embedded in the fabric. Future applications for this type of LED-embedded fabric will be on-the-fly customizable clothing. As long as we can read our RSS feeds on our next pair of khakis, we're so there.

Forget what Hitachi says about the hardrive being "the new Bling"
Phillips has the new bling right here!! This is so much cooler then all those text scrolling belt buckles!

What a weird photo.
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a fist punching an SMS pillow -- forever."

This would suck if you wanted to sleep and your buddies were feeling text-happy though...
