Cingular getting the Nokia 9300 Communicator
Never thought that the Nokia 9300
Communicator would ever see the light of day here in the States — it was exactly one year ago today the phone was
announced in Europe — but apparently Cingular recently sent out an email to developers confirming that the 9300 would
be released over here. Probably too little, too late, since in the past 365 days there have been tons of introduced (or
announced) that make the brick-like 9300 seem a bit antiquated, but whatevs, we'll deal.
[Thanks, CoreyTheGent]

Brick? OK I know you hearing people want these tiny tiny phones that you can put in the cavity of your tooth but deaf people need phones like these. I been waiting for those idiots at Cingular to get this phone here. Anything besides that piece of shit Sidekick that T-Blo carries.
Finally, now I can be like Simon Templar in the Saint, only had to wait...what, 8 years!!!!
Brick-like? I assume you've never actually seen one then.
It's better brother is certainly brick-like but the 9300 isn't any bigger than a regular Nokia 6310i really.
The lack of a touchscreen and wifi is a problem, but it's a pretty decent little package that does everything you could ask for (Office docs, music, video, Blackberry e-mail, etc).
Cingular? So, would that mean iTunes action? If so, then it's not really a surprising move.
If not, then I need to wake up a bit more before I start posting thoughts on t'internet.
Yes, I have played with one, and I stand by my assessment. It's a big phone.
meh. What about the 9500? It does Wi-Fi.
Actually I would like to see this updated to support Symbian OS9 and also support SDIO. I would dump my Treo 650 in a heartbeat.
If you think the 9300 is a brick after using it, I can only imagine what you think of the HTC Universal. House-like? :)
It's no secret that I think the Universal is a huge freaking phone!
The 9300 is a nie phone, but all the communicators lack vibrate!
That lone makes it a worthless phone for almost all of the places I need to have a phone yet can't have it audible.
I don't like touch screens. Had a pocketpc, treo 650. I just don't like them.
#2, it's much smaller than original or second model that similar to this model.
They had that exact phone in tomorow never dies (james bond) like 5 or 6 years ago. Why are they JUST releasing it now? Was there earlyer model versions because I haven't seen them around?
There've been at least five different versions dating back to 1996 but Bond didn't had any of them. He had instead an Ericsson braded mockup.
Sorry Nokia, I had a crush on the Communicator when it was first announced for Europe, but being that I'm in the states, I'm already involved in a love affair with my Treo. Thanks for playing and have a nice day.
The 9300 is listed on the Cingular extras site, which is a good indication that it will be released soon!!!
I WOULD RATHER SEE A CELL PHONE WORK FLAWLESSLY AS A CELLULAR PHONE THAN A CELL PHONE THAT WORKS HALF ASSED FOR EVERYTHING!
I work for a state agency and we have them now but they don't work because they are Euro units for us to play with. Nice unit, a little big for the pocket though in my opinion. I just might get one regardless of size. Personally I prefer clamshell phones but this just is slick and has a ton of features. I look forward to the implementation of these at my office.
P.S we were told we could get them late September but most of the deadlines I hear here are B.S anyway.
Got one today... 180 dlls. with service renewal.
It's about one inch larger than a "regular" (say a SE T610) phone. I really like this one, it's light and not that large.
This is replacing my former Sony Ericsson P900 because cameras were forbidden at work.
I'm subscribed at Telcel, in Mexico.
As mentioned in the post we have had this phone here in NokiaLand since last year - excellent business phone, but has no Wi-Fi and camera like it´s big brother the 9500 Communicator. P.S. it has no touchscreen, but something I think you call a D-pad and a on-screen cursor.
