Kensington SX 2000 NXT-enabled docking station compatible with iPod nano
Kensington announced this very, um, interesting looking docking station that's compatible with the new iPod nano. The SX 2000 speakers sport this grille-less NXT flat panel design, with the universal iPod dock positioned on the side to accept any generation of iPod via interchangeable inserts called Dock Adapters. These'll be going for $159.99.
[Thanks, Vic]

That almost looks like a television instead of speakers... ?
oh no... it looks like a cartoon bubble or a rearview mirror. eeeek.
Damn, what a good design! Bravo Kensington! This is a typical example how Apple's excellent design is motivating more good design throughout the industry.
that design looks like shit, what are you talking about.
It just has the typical apple look to it: rounded corners, etc.
Vey good but I don't like the buttons. How about a knob.
yeah, the design leaves something to be desired.
The sarcasm detector, it's off the charts!!
It would be pretty sweet if they made a version allowing for a flat panel display dock, maybe with the possible future iPod Video Players! I guess you'd have to be pretty crazy to spend $150 on the dock, $200-$300 on a flat pannel, and another $50 on equipment(not counting the iPod Video player), but it would be a pretty sweet dock (if they made a display version) depending on how good this possibly up an coming iPod Video player is.
Needs more symmetry. It actually hurts a little bit.
Tunneling past moistened metallic fleece lined funways, I experienced four difficulties extracting my better legs then above. Cautiously prancing now back to another end sometimes it was easier, until slowly eureka! The moon fell like before, crisping the edges nicely with granular efficiency too often seen, and ensuring proper balance. Meanwhile, the fluid switches bobbed in unison as I noticed a warning lamp on a seldom-used appendage, painstaking removal would be needed to provide continuity insurance. Of course by now the arcane leaps of truth appeared… The fleece was prone to rapid oxidation creating an inverse condition requiring strict ignorance on my part.
My day was done.
Anyone else think this looks like a large scale etch-a-sketch?
Take the ipod off and it looks like a hand mirror. I wouldn't be caught dead with that thing.
HEY if it works..I'm still not buying
i dont even see how the fuck this thing works
i dont even see how the fuck this thing works
why dont they ever make any black accessories? you tell them kanye :D
get the ipod nano part of the combo free at
http://ipodnanos.freepay.com/?r=22174337
complete an offer(i suggest efax) then refer 5 friends and the ipod is yours to keep
Just cause its white and round doesn't make it good design. My nano isn't gonna sit in that ugly thing...
I spent all day at CEDIA, a huge home theater show in Indianapolis this year (next year in Denver).
iPod hookups/accessories were almost in every booth. Pioneer has a receiver that enables you to control the iPod from your remote and the TV screen. Nothing earth shattering of course...
There was even a little adapter that you stuck your iPod in that has component video out. You then control a slide show with music on a TV/monitor. The adapter was cool, even if the concept is crying for iPod video.
Oh, and Logitech has a bluetooth adapter for the iPod that links up with some wireless audio transmitter. I'm new to iPods so maybe there are other bluetooth hookups for them. I asked if the bluetooth would allow you to hotsync over BT with iTunes. He didn't (wouldn't) answer that.
It could be the iPod Tv, for the future iPod Video :p
what do you mean you dont see how that works? do you even know HOW speakers work? these are electrostatic speakers, theyve been around for awhile and becoming more affordable every year

^thats an article on how those speakers work^
Also a meat-cleaver and a fly-swatter?
I am a troll: sebhelyesfarku@freemail.hu
well i like it, and i was pondering taking up tennis again!
Not sure why someone doesn't just plug it into their TV or computer. Waste of money if you ask me.

Umm. Any version? I hate to be a stickler for that sorta thing but i have wasted a fair share of cash on things compatable for any version that don't seem to work wiht my 2G ipod.
ill never understand it. not to long ago everyone was ditching or repainting their towers are they where all colored "pc" gray.
now all of a sudden that same color is showing up on every apple product and its the highest computing fashion. talk about a reality distortion field in effect...
The speakers are not electrostatics, they are DML which is completely different. The technology is licenced by NXT (www.nxtsound.com)involving vibration of rigid sufaces in a seemingly random manner, unlike electrostatics used by Quad about 35 years ago.
It's a 21st century fly swatter.
hey, anyone LISTENED to the thing? It rivals the $300 Bose Soundock for 1/3 the price. Who CARES what it looks like. Jeez.
