UT Starcom's F1000G 802.11g WiFi phone
Vonage's first WiFi phone, the F1000, is still nowhere to be found (it's been nearly five months since we reviewed the damn thing). Supposedly it'll make its debut next month, but in the meantime the company which actually makes the phone, UT Starcom, isn't standing still and is getting ready to introduce an 802.11g-enabled version called (predictably enough) the F1000G. No word on whether Vonage will stick with the 802.11b version or will go for the upgrade, but we do know that adding 802.11g does neatly address that nasty habit 802.11b WiFi phones (as well as other 802.11b devices) have of degrading throughput on 802.11g networks.
