JVC shows off monster 70-inch D-ILA RPTV
Despite what you may have read in Cosmo, bigger is, in fact, always better (yes, we are referring to screen size). JVC is well aware of this truism, which is why they've capped off their new line of D-ILA HD RPTVs with an almost-$12,000 70-inch behemouth that promises better contrast and brightness than previous models in this line. The HD-70MH700 is one big mother of a rear-projection set (max resolution of 1920 x 1080), dwarfing all but the hugest of displays. The same upgraded tech is also available in 61-inch and 57-inch versions, but if we can't have the biggest and the best, well, nothing else will do.

Who in their right mind would buy that 70 incher over the Qualia 006?

The folks that don't want to deal with Sony customer service.

Exactly what I was thinking. Can Sony CS be that bad?

*sigh* If only I had a little less sense/more money. One can console oneself, learnng to be happy with their 42" XGA plasma, knowing that plasma is an interim technology that probably won't exist (for this sort of appliction, at least) in 5 years.

I can't stand sony's service.. well.. lack there of..
I enjoy Mitsubishi with their TV's and they are definately the affordable brand to go for (and one of the richest quality tv's unlike sony)
If it were 10 years ago I would go with Sony because they had top notch quality. But today, it is a different story.

Now that the Qualia line is being shut down, JVC might actually have a place in the market at this price. Although I doubt that anybody would buy this set if Sony continues the 006 under a different division.
