Sony's HDPS-M10 40GB photo vault adds LCD display
Sony's adulterous flirtation with non-MemoryStick media is continuing unabated (first they began to dabble in CF, and now we're starting to see some SD products joining the lineup); they just announced the new HDPS-M10, an upgrade to their HDPS-M1 40GB portable photo storage vault from earlier this year. The biggest change is the addition of a small LCD screen that displays transfer status and other pic info. Like the M1, the M10 reads not just the entire family of MemoryStick cards, but CompactFlash and MicroDrive formats as well. As with everything else that is right and good in the world, this product will remain Japan-only for now.

I got hold of an M1 in the UK a couple of months ago, pretty cool for only 100. It too has a CF slot, so nothing new there with the M10. I guess the LCD screen could be useful, but the M1 works great as it is.

Japan only, they can keep it. The screen is too small and my mobile should be able to do this, why have another piece of hardware to carry?

There are no way that I know to connect a compact flash reader to an iPod. This Sony device is just made to save your photo when your CF / MemStick is full and where your in a long trip without computer, that's it. It doesn't display your pics, it just stores them. It's cheaper than any device that display your picture. I say its a good device.
