Yes, we're aware this is entirely gratuitous given that we already knew the ceramic PSP was gonna be launching today. But, you know — we're big fans of gratuitous. Whaddya want?

You know, it would be nice to actually acknoledge Akihabaranews in this post instead of just ripping their pics and hiding the link to them in the first pic.

I wonder if they are going re-name this edition to the iPSP? ... Now I can wait to hear from people who will write back and say, "Hey moron, just because it's white doesn't mean they're copying Apple... stupid fanboy STFU Apple sucks!!" ... Just making an observation.

But, I think the black one is prettier. Black screen on black PSP is better. The big black square on this white goodness is not that pretty. ..anyways this is for the Apple people
Yea it looks all right but just only problem is that if dirt gets on it the thing will look bad but good part it that you can't see all that lint on it like the black one

What happened to the clear buttons this thing used to have? I loved those clear buttons more than anything. I remember one time I saw this picture of a white psp with clear buttons and I thought "wow.. clear buttons.. wish I had clear buttons."
There was a time when clear buttons would've ruled the world, but now you have your paints and your opaques and what have you. Such a time was a glorious time, it was if life wasn't restrained by such transparent qualities, or the lack thereof.

As for leeching images, Joystiq always does that. Look at the URL for any of their images, as far as I can tell they just link other people's stuff (unless it's actual reporting they did first hand).
Still, the white PSP looks kind of lame. I'm not saying black is the end all be all, but they definitely didn't release it in white at first for a reason. I really hate the iPod. I really wish everything didn't try to clone it's popularity, cuz I hate tiny things(nano iPod? cmon... nano GBA is soon to follow), and white is a hideous color for electronics.
Anybody actually got there hands on one of these yet? Does it collect fingerprints as easily and eagerly as the black one does?
I still think I prefer the black one - this one just looks too sterile. But hey, at least the sony supplied headphones will look allright with the PSP now..

Looks nice in static pictures, but having bright white surrounding your screen might get a tad distracting on handheld. Though it can't be any harder (or easier for that matter) to keep clean than the back one.
so they made this to trick people into thinking "oh looXXorz! its the new iPod!" then they take it home and cry because its MP3 playing abilities are sub par :(
maybe if sony had better selling figures they wouldn't have to copy something thats been more successful. oh well!

Have to agree with prior posts. Sony, I have had a PSP since launch. I played the hell out of Lumines. The only reason I play the unit is to launch homebrew apps. Please make some more decent games.
Anyone know what firmware is loaded on it?

Looks like Sony is listening...Check out the Winter 05 PSP lineup on IGN.com. Some of the games look awesome

I'm not that serious about the clear buttons, but they do make this white a little more visually pleasing.

Well, the solid coloured buttons just make it seem less future-esque to me. That was a thing about the buttons that I liked.
Hmm... When it's a PSP, it's "cool" and "gratuitous". When it's a $1000 pair of JVC woody 'phones, which may actually be worth the price tag, it's labelled as being "audiophile nonsense". Hmm... This all makes sense now!

It's a shame that the clear buttons are now opaque - also the blk charger comment is a funny one.

Sony doesn't make the games people. Third parties do. Why is that so hard to grasp?
Also, go pickup Burnout or Midevil or Gripshift. All of them are getting solid to awesome reviews, and they all came out this week.
