Dell leaks a (minor) doc on the Axim X51 and X51v
It's not some big huge deal or anything, but Dell dropped a PDF with some info on their forthcoming X51 and X51v
handhelds (the first official confirmation, if you've been paying attention). Basically we're looking at a 4.7 x 2.9 x
0.66-inch 6-ounce device with a 624MHz Intel Xscale CPU, 64MB RAM, 128MB flash, and a 3.7-inch display; sound familiar
at all? Well, would it really be that huge of a surprise if the boys at Dell just gave the X50v a Windows Mobile 5.0
upgrade and they called it a day? Oh, and if we're to believe an
Aximsite forum post, the device could be launched
as early as, um, today! [Warning: PDF link—no doy!]
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Wow, big secret. Honestly didn't see that coming. *blinks* Like people actually care for that, can't they see that Dell has adopted a Palm-like naming sequence? Model number +1 = very minor update
YAY,more garbage from the dynamic duo:
DULL and MicroSHIT
Can someone explain why we are still offered PDA's with 128 mgs of memory when music players are offering 4 gbs of storage. I don't want a phone that can play music - I want a PDA with enough storage to handle my 10,000 client list, all recent Wod and Excel documents, photos, and music, plus the programs to play them. A PDA with suffient storage could easily accomplish this. Would someone please make one.
Thanks

# 3 thats what SD and CF slots are for
i have over 3GB storage in my axim =)
Jay's comment is especially dumb considering apple makes neither a pda nor an operating system for one.
excuse me, i forgot about the newton.
Jay has a point - If the ipod nano can hold 4gb of flash i don't see why a pda can't be fitted with the same. Plus it would be nice to make the whole package thinner too. And a nice OLED screen to save power. And maybe increase the screen res to, i don't know, 800x600.
If mindless neanderthals like #4 and #6 were involved in product concepts we'd be stuck with a square wheel. If it works for you guys, fine. But don't tell us to roll with'em.
To anyone that thinks that the Dell Axim is Dull: the idea of the Dell Axim which has an SD slot and a CF Type II slot (accepts Microdrives which are a bit thicker) is by far a better design idea than making the device thinner. And it has a 3.7 inch screen which makes viewing pictures from either of my digital cameras a lot nicer. The iPod Nano will be replaced a dozen times and I cannot afford to keep upgrading. But I can buy CF cards as they reduce in price. I have a Dell Axim which is a little thinner than the iPod and a 4 GB Microdrive that stores my music. I also have a 1 GB SD Card for large file attachments. Next year I may move to an 8 GB card when Samsung introduces their 16 GB Microdrive and puts price pressure on the smaller capacities. I can surf the web and listen to music while having a Breve Latte at my favorite coffee shop. No matter how much I try, I cannot do that with a simple MP3 player - no matter how sleek and well constructed.
128mb...it needs more memory
