Acer's new n310 and n311 Pocket PCs
Been a little while since we've seen a non-Ferrari themed handheld from Acer, but word has leaked out about a pair of regular new Pocket PCs, the n311, which has a 400MHz procesor, 3.7-inch VGA display, 64MB of RAM, 128MB of flash ROM, Bluetooth 1.2, USB Host capability, and WiFi, and the n310, which is basically the same device, just without WiFi. Not sure when either will go on sale — or why they still haven't released that smartphone they've been talking about for almost a year now.

If you follow the "Read" link to the description of the PDA, the PDA is also ~40 grams lighter than the Dell Axim X51v. Thats about 1/3 less. The dimensions are also smaller despite having the same sized screen. Its 7mm shorter, 3mm narrower, and 3mm narrower. I know it doesn't sound like much, but as a heavy PDA user, I think its a difference that would definitely be significant.
I'm a current Dell Axim X3i owner and I'm looking to replace it. If this thing comes out soon, I think I'm going to go Acer over Dell. Well done, Acer.
Now can I get it in Ferrari red please? It'll enhance my sense of professionalism to plop down something that'd look like Fisher Price's My First PDA in a board meeting. (Seriously, please keep it black and silver.)
Looks pretty skinny in the picture. Though it could get thicker where you can't see it. business card case sized hardware is the new thing, isn't it?
Its light weight is probably because its all plastic, like the n50 and n30, which both felt rather cheap and flimsy.
Bit bizzare its only got a 400 Mhz cpu but has a VGA screen. The n50 Premium has a 520 Mhz cpu and a QVGA scree. Doesnt Acer think people might want both?
I have the Acer N50 at the moment, and the only thing im missing is that damn VGA screen. This one has VGA but a slower processor WTF??? still prefer processor above screen with WM5 though...
400 Mhz Samsung is comparable to 520 Mhz Intel Xscale. Just burns less power, so its a step in the right direction if you ask me.
This is the PDA I've been waiting for! Two words: Tungsten T. Check out how the N300 series stacks up to the smallest of the Tungsten Sliders: the N311 is 110 x 70 x 14 at 135gm; my T|T -- CLOSED -- is 101 x 76 x 15 at 159gm! At that resolution and configuration, this is ALMOST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! (Meaning it probably isn't...)
Been waiting so long to replace my Tungsten T; there just hasn't been anything intriguing enough to make the leap. Almost bit on the Acer N50, but decided it was just slightly too big, and worse resolution than my T|T. Acer hit the sweet spot here! I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Well I've been searching for a VGA PDA for months, I was starting to look at the X51v but this thing has definitly caught my eye. It's nice to see a well featured pocket PC that doesn't look like a brick, and judging by all reports it won't weigh in like a brick either.
I am very interested in a PDA with VGA_output. The only one I found is Dell X51v but it would be nice if n311 was able to output VGA signal. ¿Does anyone know anything about that?
