Dell and Cingular are still getting together on HSDPA
It's not really backstabbing since Dell would be insane to sign an exclusivity agreement with Verizon on those new
EV-DO-enabled Latitudes, but for anyone
wondering whether or not they were drifting at all from their original plans with Cingular: no, they're not.
Dell and Cingular kind of popped out a refresher
announcement that yes, they're still planning on working together to get integrated access to their forthcoming HSDPA
on Dell laptops. Just so ya know.

Looks Like we're seeing the begining of the end of Wifi's rain...
End of Wifi's reign?
Why would Cingular roll out UMA if that was true?
I just want to know where the HSDPA is in the first place. Is Cingular actually testing it anywhere outside of a lab? When's the rollout planned? It's good to have the laptop, but its connectivity is useless without the signal.
If you don't have HSPDA in your area, it'll just do a lower-speed WCDMA data connection. Just like when you can't get EGRPS(EDGE), your phone can usually just use regular GPRS.
If you are following the latest news about cingular, you will know that they are in the process of rolling out HSDPA between the end of 05 and the end of 06.
Wfi isn't going anywhere anytime soon, but, the standard for wireless internet is being changed by 3g (EV-DO & UMTS) and 3.5g HSDPA.
