Acer AL2032W and AL2416W widescreen displays
Targeting gamers and designers alike (along with anyone else who has room on their desk and money in their pocket for a widescreen display), Acer is rolling out two LCD displays with high contrast ratios and rapid response rates. The 20-inch AL2032W has an 800:1 contrast ratio and an 8ms response rate, while the 24-inch AL2416W boasts a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 6ms response rate. The new models will be available in Taiwan next month, Europe later this year, and the US, you know, whenever they feel like it. The AL2032W is expected to go for about $540, while the AL2416W is expected to retail for about $870.

Why, why the hell is it going to take so long to come to the U.S. I want to buy my 24 inch now... why do they do this.... I"m ready ... come on get it on the boat and bring some here...
I need something hot like that to go with my dell X600, and that would look so sweet, not to mention perfect for Xbox 360.... dam you companies for not getting these things out quicker.

Through the DVI, everything is fine, but don't get the Dell if you plan on using the component video or s-video inputs (for gaming, etc). Unless you're actually viewing 1080i, you're in for a world of improperly-scaled, vertically-stretched video. I wish someone would have told me that, but somehow every single reviewer missed it. Hopefully this Acer, and the Benq 23" don't have the same problems. The HP 23" isn't a bad idea, if you don't mind the look, and the price.

well i been doing some research on the net, on an xbox 360 forum is says the dell will be ok. i didnt realise it was only through the dvi. why is this so damn complicated. i want a 24" monitor that will work with the xbox 360 and my pc (with great grahics card of course!) is this too much to ask????

Grendel, The Acer AL2032WD is the one that CompUSA has. Notice the added D at the end. This unit is only 600:1 contrast ratio and 16ms refresh rate. FYI.

Hi, I live in Finland and I'm 26 years old. Acer AL2032W looks interesting for a first flat -over 19 " -pc monitor/television. I can't find info about its pixel size. I've doing some comparing between Philips 23" - 230W5B, Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW and this Acer. The first is over 1200 $ expensive, second has pixel size of 0,294 mm compared to the former's 0,260 and this third Acer is the cheapest. Now could it be that it has "large" pixels and weak resolution as the Dell, which would explain their cheap prices?
