The Nokia 3250 XpressMusic cellphone is officially announced
Look out Motorola,
Nokia just dropped the deets on their new 3250 music phone we
told you about last week. Not only that, but they also unveiled an entire XpressMusic branding campaign (yawn) which
will be slapped on all Nokia music devices featuring dedicated music key(s), music pause/resume on incoming calls,
support for 3.5-mm headphone jacks, and extended battery life. So the series 60 platform 3250 gets all that plus up to
1GB of memory expansion (via microSD slot), 10 hours of music play or 3 hours talktime, triband GSM/EDGE/900/1800/1900,
Bluetooth, MP3, WMA,
M4A and AAC music format support, an FM radio, and 2 megapixel
camera activated by a twist of the keypad. Oh, and they'll provide easy access to "over-the-air music
downloads." Gee, wonder who might be providing that
service? Like the N91, the 3250 will ship
just in time for Christmas in Q1 2006.
[Thanks, Alex]

Nokia's are so fucking ugly.
Villa @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Come on whats about this slide / twist / turn cr*ap that every new phone has to feature ?
thomas @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
the only song included on these phones should be Bubba Sparxx - Ugly. god are Nokia competing for first prize in the Ugly cellphone contest or what. i think almost all their phones the later years have been ugly as hell.
SonyEricsson FTW!!1one

I think music on mobiles is really catching on with younger people. I have an ipod but @ university the grey nokia headphones have caught on quite a bit in the last couple of years! I've also tried it a few times on my nokia 6630.
If you want to just put on an album or mix for the day or 1/2 an hour journey its a pretty good solution IMHO.
One device in your jeans/suit pocket! Battery life can be an issue but i charge my phone overnight anyway!!
Mr Snickels @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
It looks like a wind-up phone. That's also the only useful function I can think of.
soupbun @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
I got my 6630 for free with one year on 3 and half line rental, and I think this is the best item I ever got for free. Good OS, good PIM, nice MP3 player, good phone. For FREE! I couldn't give a crap about how ugly it is. Who said being a phone snob is cool, anyways?

At least this Nokia effort is a hell of a lot better than the Motorola ROKR. I don't see "100 songs maximum" and "painfully slow USB1 syncing" in this Nokia XpressMusic feature list:
- Great audio quality
- Dedicated key(s) for fast and easy access to the music collection
- Play, talk and play - music pauses when a call comes in, resumes when the call has ended
- Use any headphones for listening with standard 3.5mm jack
- Extended battery time (minimum of 10 hours for music)
- Substantial storage for large number of songs
- Create and edit playlists on the go
- USB 2.0 support for fast and easy transfer of your music
- Wide support of audio formats, including MP3, M4A, WMA, AAC and eAAC+
- Easy access to over-the-air music downloads

The ultimate gadget for a young person... phone, MP3 player, and 2MP digicam.

Oh!!!!The phones great i love the design ahh......
Galley @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Well, at least Nokia was cool enough to support AAC.
Laurence @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
What service gets it?
flipmyx @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
to everyone who commented that the phone is "ugly" (although it looks dead ringer like the 3230).... DONT WORRY.... THIS PHONE WON'T GET RELEASED HERE... EVER. EVAR. CONSIDER THAT YOUR TECH PUNISHMENT. NOW GO ENJOY THE ROKR......
tino @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Holy carp 35mm phone jack! Good job Nokia.
But...microSD, THAT'S STUPID!
Marco @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
This design is a bulkier version of the T300, yuk!
supesguy @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
i wish nokia would stop trying to be competive based on designs that are off the wall and instead compete by designing nice looking phones. i can't think of one nokia phone in several years that i've actually wanted. this tragic model is no exception.
Joe @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
This is not the phone that Motorola needs to worry about. It's Nokia's 6682. Similar features to the 3250, but was release about the same time sa the new Rokr. Letstalk has already sold out of their allotment even after rasing the price after the first week (I missed this one).
Max @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
it's pretty cool. it's like a 3230 but.. different.
SR @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Whatever, the Nokia 6230 has been doing music for over a year now. There are no dedicated music buttons and no dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack but it does the job playing .aac and .mp3 files with up to 2GB expansion and it is small.
James @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Just when I thought phones are getting better looking. Nokia has bucked the trend by making uglier phones than everyone else.
Engadget should have a contest of which phone is the ugliest of all time.
Samuel Lago @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
You Americans have no idea, this is a brilliant design, anyone who can't appreciate it I feel for them. Ha!
..........? @ Dec 19th 2005 2:06AM
Americans have the most weirdest sense in what is good design i have ever seen. The cell phone most people use in the US are the ones no one use in the rest of the world such as Treo 650. That phone is a failure in anywhere except US. That is true the phone only earn money in US and lose money in other country.
