Toshiba finalizes development of first HD DVD PC

HD DVD disc

Well, Toshiba is totally riding high today — earlier Microsoft and Intel threw down support for HD DVD, and now they're saying they've got the first PC ready to read HD DVD discs already completed and waiting in the wings. The desktop machine is slated to roll out in Japan early next year with a slim, read-only HD DVD drive that will also allow reading and writing to regular DVDs and CDs. They've still got plans to roll out a standalone HD DVD player in Q4 this year.
