Dells adds to the XPS line with XPS 200, XPS 400, and M170
Today Dell announced an expansion to the XPS
luxury line of high-end PCs already featuring desktops and laptops geared towards the gaming world. The new offerings
are aimed at expanding the entire class to the entertainment market. The new XPS 200 and 400 will join the
XPS 600 on the desktop, with a new M170 adding to the
laptop line. All of these XPS systems will be shipping with Windows MCE 2005, and will have options for including dual
TV tuners.

Eh... I got the XPS gen 1. I'd trade it for a high end sager notebook any day of the week. I fell in because I couldn't get a WUXGA elsewhere at the time.
After using a laptop for so long and seeing the new PC designs from Apple and others, I don't see how people could deal with this huge ugly box.
You guys have to realize that the "huge ugly box" is a form factor. It's an industry standard case size. Any ATX motherboard on earth is going to fit in that case.
It's this standardization that makes PCs so cheap.
You mac guys may have money to burn, but I don't. I can't be buying entirely new computers every couple of years. I only upgrade the couple of parts I need to, when I need to. My case is like 7 years old, for example. I just got a new MB and Pentium 520, but I reused the videocard, hard drive, OS, and all kinds of peripheral cards.
Sure, there are mini-ATX, mini-ITX, nano-ITX form factors out there, but then you can't use every last PCI card that you've acquired over the past 10 years, like I have.
"You mac guys may have money to burn, but I don't."
then you're probably not going to be buying a Dell XPS anyway :)
Why are you complaining about what the case looks like, most of the time its shoved under your desk and out the way or your looking at the screen and playing games. I would understand if you where complaining about a laptop but not this:)
Havng purchased a Gen 4 just before thy released the Gen 5 (there s basically no difference between the two) I was admittedly, somewhat unpleasanty surprised at the case size. The thing is, about 1.5-2" of its height is actually the proprietary form-factor power supply. If that were removed (and replaced w/a conventional one) the case would be signifigantly less... imposing.
Once the warranty runs-out I'll probaby transfer the guts into an Ahanix HTPC case and add a second Crossfire-compatible ATI card anyway, so it's all good.
I agree with you said " huge ugly box " I dont know where u got this words.. lol ..
Anyone know what the difference is between the XPS 200 and the Dimension 5100C? They look the same to me.
Well, I have an XPS Gen 5, and let me tell you, I love it! It's worth every penny! I actually like the look of the PC, and I couldn't care less about the size! As long as I can play my Sims 2 and AOE III when it comes out, I'm all good!

Take a look at the xps small form factor box. It boasts some really nice features and doesn't have the honking size that a G5 or the XPS gaming system has!

By small form factor I mean the XPS 200.
