Last night's SF Engadget Reader Meetup
We're still trying to settle down after the craziness that was last night's Engadget Reader Meetup in San Francisco, but we wanted to say thanks again to Metaliq for hosting us, PGP for hooking us up with the catering, and Sonos, OQO, Motorola, Microsoft, SlingMedia, and Nokia for giving us so many sweet prizes to give away. Oh, and extra special thanks to everyone who showed up, we hope you had a good time. We'll post up a proper roundup once we're back in NYC, but in the meantime if you have any pics from the event please send them to us at engadget att gmail . com.

When are you going to have on in Los Angeles? We need some gadget-loving goodness too.
BigIke @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
I was there with my gf! She and I had lots of fun. Thanks for the Corona's PGP! There was a couple with the cutest baby! I have to say that must have been the most expensive gadget there! :-)
Thanks for the shirts Peter!
Looking forward to the next engadget meet, hopefully I win something.
Luis A @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM

Andrew Stern @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM

Andrew
Samantha @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
When will you guys do one in NYC?
London @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Thanks for coming out to our fair city. It was great to get my hands on so many new gadgets, and the raffle was awesome even though I didn't win.
The prize for the best demo definitely went to the Slingbox guys controlling the Tivo on the cellphone. Nice technology.
Alexa @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
An awesome evening! Thanks Peter, Ryan and Jason for coming out -- you guys are amazing. Thanks Beau at Metaliq for hosting as well and all the vendors who showed us new cool things and donated to the raffle! Looking forward to the next one!
Ari @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
WHen are you going to come out to Seattle?
Jeff @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
I aggree with post 12:
"The prize for the best demo definitely went to the Slingbox guys controlling the Tivo on the cellphone."
Slingbox guys were using a Samsung SCH-i730 via EVDO and the the widescreen video on the phone was flawless. They said the software will work on all Windows 5 Mobile Phones. I'm sure it would look sweet on Sprint's PPC-6700.
Count me in on both a Slingbox and a Windows Mobile 5 with EVDO when the software comes out. Bye bye Palm ):
Jeremy Toeman @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
We had a fun time demoing at the party last night, special thanks to the Engadget guys for putting it together, and a shout-out to the current Slingbox owners who were in the crowd (and to the guy with the Segway).
If anyone did get some pix that they can send us, we somehow forgot to take any. You can email me directly at my first name (at) my company's URL.
Best,
Jeremy

A big thank you to everyone who put on last nights' gadget extravaganza - all the hard work and effort that goes into an event like this was much appreciated.
BTW, if the Asian girl with blue jeans, green tshirt and a pony tail is reading this, drop me a line at oliverthompsonsf@yahoo.com - I couldn't take my eyes of you - I had a black t-shirt on - worth a try :)
Oliver.
Rob P @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
The event last night was better than I expected. Its very cool to hear about a couple of young guys running such a succesful and quality website.
Gene @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Awesome meetup! Me and my buddy has a blast. Maybe because I won the first 6682 =) Yeah, I was the one pumping my fist in excitement. One thing Peter- why did you have to bust me out in front of everyone like that and tell me not to sell it on eBay!? Just cuz I look like a broke college student! (which I am!) Anyways thanks Engadget and Nokia for my new sexy phone! Now what to do with my black RAZR? I was hoping for the OQO but this will do! I'll be sending some snapshots I took...
Beers + Gadgets + Winning a 6682 = winning combo
Mojo @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Nah, what you guys need is some southern exposure. A Jacksonvill meetup would do everybody some good.
Paula @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Thanks to everyone for coming out...Im so stoked I won the Sonos bundle!!!!Its so cool. Cant wait for the next meetup.
Phillip @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Poster 19 and I had a fantastic time. Him winning the Nokia 6682 had to be fate because we took a wrong turn, got lost, and arrived late. I really enjoyed racing another guy on my Treo to look up Sling Media's CEO to win a pen+stylus+pencil. It's no OQO or Sling Box but I'm showing it off at work today as proof that having l33t Treo skills gets your somewhere in life. w00t!1! I also wanted to send my condolences to the guy that won the ROKR. =D
Kudos to Engadget, Metaliq, PGP, and showcasers for hosting a great meetup!
Japanese Jay @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM

I have hi res versions at home AND if you like any of them in particular, let me know. I'll color correct them and send off a hi-res version.
it was great meeting you all! I had an awesome time! Maybe I'll get scouted to be the Engadget photographer~?

Japanese Jay @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
[BTW, if the Asian girl with blue jeans, green tshirt and a pony tail is reading this...]
Doh!
I wish I had a shot of her! I would have been more trigger happy but I was running out of juice in my flash!
Lesson of the night is... dont forget to charge your batteries!
---
The OTHER lesson of the night is:
#515? 5~ 1~ 5~!?!?
where is #515?
Come get your OQO!
ummm~ okay... well...
Lets give it off to someone else!
...poor guy/gal... whoever you are #515! you missed out. Hugs~!
Oliver Thompson @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
thanks #23 - seems like i'm colorblind - it was a yellow tshirt, not a green one :)
Oliver.
moni @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Something tells me this fabled girl in green (or is it yellow) isn't going to email you... but you know, that's just a hunch.
The T-shirts look good - wish i had one.
Francis @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Man it was great. I was that kid that one the first slngbox. I talked to the girl that won the i-mate and she didnt even know what it was! i was trying to trade with her but she said she was going to sell it.
kc! @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Great job on the event, and thanks for everything!! I look forward to winning next time!
(Unfortunately I forgot a camera, however I wrote-up my review on my personal blog as any self-respecting, hipster, gadget-lover would:

Wow... and I thought -I- looked dorky...
...
......
Just kidding! Don't kill me >_> <_<

(omg, overuse of smileys)
deluxe @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Judging the photos, it looks to have been the quintessential sausage party--and in San Francisco no less! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going take my elevator down to the Seoul subway and see 100 babes hotter than the one over-mentioned here.
Abu Ayyub @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
[Judging the photos, it looks to have been the quintessential sausage..]
That's how it is bro. @ gadget and auto shows. Why do you think they hire models for car shows? Hmm Peter, I think I have an idea for the next NYC meet-up!
Taylor @ Dec 19th 2005 12:20AM
Oh, that is so totally me on the left in that picture!
Yeah... I was #517, my friend was #516... I Saw that guy come in the door in front of us, the fabled #515... He kind of cut me off actually, and if I'd been a bit faster, I'd have been #515... Anyway, I'll post pictures soon!
