VW iFox package with iPod nano
FM transmitters, cassette adapters: those are so last year. Heck, even buying your DAP separately from your ride is like, totally last week. Thanks to Volkswagen, you can now save yourself a trip to the big box retailers, with the newly-announced iPod/VW Fox combo package. Even better than getting fries with your burger, the iFox package, as it's being called, comes complete with a VW-branded 2GB iPod nano, a dock to attach it to the Blaupunkt Calgary MP3 radio, and of course that wiley old Fox with an "iPod Inside" logo (hello, Intel legal?). VW is only offering 500 of these bad boys, and since all prices are in Euros, we kinda doubt they'll send one our way.

Honestly, is anybody retarded enough to let a "free" (there needs to be something that's like a scare quote, only STRONGER) $200 consumer device influence a purchasing decision in the tens of thousands?
Yeah great idea sticking an 'ipod inside' stick on your car. duh.
Thats just asking for some idiot thief to smash your window and steal your 1000 songs. So much for those campaigns by police 'don't leave your valuables on show'. yeah lets just put a sticker on saying 'rob me'
even if you took it with you, some bozo will rummage thru your car anyway.
'iPod Inside' logo? Why not just call it the VW StealMe?
I totally agree with the last post. Sure, having a DAP in your car can be advantageous, but the car better be great too. An intelligent buyer wouldn't let, arguably, a gimmick sway them in a multi-thousand dollar investment. However, I do believe this is one step taken forward in advancing the standards in car stereo systems.
How about I shove my iFoot up the next person's iButt the next time they make something with the letter i in front of it.
The scariest part of this is the thought of trying to get iPod tech support from your VW tech.
Dude - just make sure before you do the shoving, that you upgrade your iFoot to 1.02. With the 1.0 release, half the time, iFoot would just snap off up there...
the vw fox has already been in the US

and i can't wait till one of these vw branded ipods are on ebay, i would see a reason for a ipod. until then, my carbon + vw sticker will work.
I love innovations! I am maybe a little behind the times but I just recently purchased my first MP3 player and I don't have an iPod (not really sure it fits my interest). But the MP3 is great and my only disappointment is not being able to listen to it in my vehicle without the headphones so this offering on the VWs has appeal for me. BUT it would not influence me to trade in my Jeep for a VW.
Blaupunkt Calgary MP3 huh Hey, I live in Calgary Alberta Canada home to the '88 Olympics NHL Flames and CFL Stampeders. A car deck named after the city or what else? In your face Toronto!
A 2GB nano... And that is supposed to make me buy that daft car?

I know a guy who sold houses with a "free" car and that's how he got rich. He later sold garage boxes (45000 € a piece) and buyers could WIN a Mini Cooper. He sold 200 of them and had to give 1 Mini away.
Here's a pic, VW says it's an Austria only offer:

I used to have a fox. The last year the model was made for US use was in '93. It came as a sedan or wagon, not a hatchback as pictured. It only came with a manual transmission and no power steering. But it got 30 MPG and I put 100,000 miles on it in 4 years with the only major repair (besides standard maintenance) being a new radiator.
#10, all of Blaupunkt's decks are named after cities. Of course, there's never been a Greenville model yet. ;-)
I predict the paint job will show scratches much more easily than other on cars and that the windshields will crack...
Sweet! this is MUCH better than having to intergrade a 350gb hard drive into my car! I MUST Buy it!
I've been looking for just the right $15,000 car... and a $200 mp3 player is just the deciding factor I'm looking for!
3.5 to 3.5mm stereo cable - £2
tape player with line in - came with car
knowing you just outdid apple AND vw with a £2 cable and your current mp3 player - priceless
hmmm.. something i want to add on a serious note..
If you STILL don't have an MP3 player after all of these years... YOU are either too poor to afford a new car or you are TOO old to drive one
Seriously, I am looking at a Blaupunkt stereo to put in my car (not a VW) as Ice Link isn't compatible. Has anyone seen a pic of how this goes together on the inside of the car? Blaupunkt has a cradle but only for full sized iPods and I would love to see what they do with the nano.
