Fujitsu's first external 2.5-inch hard drive, the HandyDrive
The HandyDrive is the name of Fujitsu's first external 2.5-inch hard drive. They've held the #2 spot in 2.5-inch hard drives for a while, but somehow, they never thought to put their own drives in an enclosure. With a price set to be under $220, Fujitsu says the 100GB drive is the thinnest in its bus-powered class at 13.5mm (0.53-inch). Other specs include a USB 2.0 interface, fanless enclosure, and weight of under 200g. It should be available in Japan at the end of this week.

It looks like they tried to pull off the iPod look...just like everyone else.

All it needs as an LCD screen, a battery pack, and the ability to play MP3s.

Pretty sweet, good for swaping movies, OS installs, games and other things of the nature.

sweet. this would be good with an NSLU device, preferrably running Unslung firmware.

Aaron, is that a Fujitsu enclosure or an enclosure + hard drive? I know, I know, nitpicking.
YourTechSupport @ Dec 19th 2005 2:28AM
Damn. That's not too bad a price, all things considered, right? Now if only they'd put the damn thing in a small Linux-based PDA already.

I agree with Steve. Everyone KNOWS that Apple Computer invented the rectangle. How dare someone should use that shape. Especially since it's so uncommon and unique only to Apple.
anyways. I like it. Would be very handy for someone with a laptop or wanted a microdrive but needed more capacity. It looks like you could almost fit that in your pocket.

What are you talking about? Apple didn't invent the rectangle - Al Gore did!

They also created the color white, and more recently black.

The Fujitsu is bus-powered. The Lacie appears to require a separate power supply. Both devices fit a niche.
