Nokia 888 communicator concept phone
Now, you're not going to see this in stores any time soon. But if
you'd like to get an idea of what Nokia thinks the future of communications will look like, take a look at the Nokia
888 communicator, a concept design that recently won Nokia's Benelux design contest. The bracelet-like 888 is
envisioned to use a liquid battery, feature speech recognition, a flexible touch screen, and a touch sensitive body
cover. A video showing off the device's potential features shows off close to a dozen functions, including an alarm
clock, PDA, GPS, phone, push email receiver, digital wallet and, of course, jewelry. And, other than the "liquid
battery," we can actually see this in the not-too-distant future. Just give us some full-color
E-ink,
flexible OLED displays and
inkjet-printed circuit boards, and we're almost
there.

Ah, but does it run Linux?!
Can you say high tech "slap braclet"?
That sounds like a beautiful phone and expensive to behold. I wonder if we could actually get a good view of the of future of the freaking network that they'll work on.
Wait - is that little white strip the concept phone? (Looks like one of the recliners by swimming pools.) If it is... I personally think it's sexy. Although I have no clue where the functions are located, it still looks good.
much like the nokia 2650 and 2652, nokia designers need to stop with the maxipad look, it's just bloody awful (pun intended)
Pass. Jack-of-all-trades never work.
Yeah, but when will it be on T-Mobile...
http://conceptlounge.nokia.be/eng/index.asp?&audio=1 is worth checking out. So you can see all other great ideas...
(for instance : The Zond is amazing!)

I love nokias envison of the future.
Sexy and cool.
I saw Vodafone's vision months ago too:

5 bucks says someone will get it to play DOOM within a week
Dammit, Jazzay beat me to it.
But yes, I'm very excited for another product which won't come out in my lifetime. (It's cool, though)
It's not really Nokia's vision of future, just some design student's. These things will never be manufactured.
The winning entry though is great. It might look like a maxipad, but the idea of changing form is awesome. I hope someone comes up with a real product that functions something like that.

It's a fraud. Really. I knew I'd seen this before !!! The concept is stolen from NEC :

Well I submitted mine, the Lolly-Com phone. If it gets approved!
very interesting concept. If ever released it will probably not ever make it to the U.S until years after the rest of the world looks at it like old news.
Maybe they should try to design a decent pair of headphones first!
Can you say high tech "slap braclet"?
liquid battery? I love the idea of highly corrosive fluids strapped to my delicate neck.
I have done a little research on this concept.
I think Nokia 888 is using OLED (Organic light-emitting diode) concept. you can find more information about it on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED
... njoy the future
How do we type in the numbers
will it really come out for market.. kinda hard to believe.. where are the functions located?..
Futuristic but improbable, where does the sound would come from this sheet-sized device? I can't see any space for any i/o audio device, unless it is developed by using nanotech, which can't be excluded, but would raise the market price of this item way too much for an average customer, even in the next ten years. Anyway, if it would be a little thicker I think, there wouldn't be any problem, till someone invent some sound emitting oleds of course.

I've seen many ideas even from such a modern company as nokia years ago, yet today we don't seem to have any of them in our homes. For example: house of future presented in London, 10 years ago we all saw refrigerators suppose to buy us food over internet when we run out of it. As we see today, we still don't have this tehnology in our owns. That is my vision.
shuks...!!!..really stunning...a phone that everyone would love to hav i guess...what about charging it??.....and does it have a camera??.....better be one...coz now..phones are out with a 2.megapixel cam...neway..hopin to c it in the market....very soon...
