The Engadget Reader Meetup: The Aftermath (part III, SF)
We're still reeling about the fact that several hundred people showed to our SF event (they seem to get bigger and bigger)-but even better are all the amazing photographs you took of the thing. Attendees played with devices from Motorola, Microsoft, OQO, Nokia, Sling Media, Sonos, chilled with Engadget editors (whether or not they knew it), and took home some seriously sweet prizes from all of the above. We'd like to thank Metaliq and PGP for putting the thing on with us, and for all the readers who were able to make it out. If you weren't among them, don't worry, we'll surely be coming your way soon enough!
Very before.

Is that the look of disappointed longing?
This was the line you had to stand in to see...

Free drinks: the happymaker.
Sorry guys, we left our soapboxes at home.
It actually got booed. Whatev, you know you wanted one (for free).

Dude won!
But this dude won the grand prize: a brand new OQO Model 01+.

I'd drive the 5 hours home to atlanta just to go to an engadget meetup. plus you have Tech in atlanta and there is no larger known source of dorks in america.
Crash at the houses of the guys from Autoblog (there here in Detroit right?), and come to Detroit around auto show time. Enough cool tech and killer rides float around Cobo Hall to make both blogs readers drool. Especially down stairs where they have recently started (2 years ago) the custom car/tuner section.
Chicago! West out here in DeKalb would ROCK.
you fellas ever coming to philly? seems like a great time!
ok, so any suggestions on a place where we could meetup in Atlanta? it'd have to fit at least 150 people.
but pete, ATL sounds cool, around ALPHARETTA, since i don't mind driving, but don't forget to show NORTH CACKYLACKY some love. CHARLOTTE or RALEIGH.
London calling!
Atlanta would be ideal but I wouldn't mind driving somewhere within the 6 hour driving distance from Atlanta. So, ATLANTA or some place nearby...PLEASE!!! I don't even want anything free, just want to try out the latest toys...I mean technology.
Rochester, NY.. Come for the Rochester Institute of Technology nerds, stay for the freezing cold!
You should have one in Vancouver, BC, Canada!! You'll get at least as many people here. It's a 3 hour drive from Seattle.
Another voice for Motor City...
I think the booing for the ROKR was a bit one-sided. Peter did a nice job building up the suspense re: what was next, and from my vantage point, first there were gasps (like, "oooh" and "gimme" and "wow, so that's what the ROKR looks like when Peter holds it up in the air unboxed") and only afterwards the hecklers got going. Which was pretty funny.
The OQO was the undisputed star of the giveaways. For a free event, the Engadget SFO meetup had to be the best $$$ gear giveaway/attendee ratio of all time.
