Gamepark GP2X-F100 pre-reviewed
We weren't so sure about the Gamepark GP2x-F100 at first — sure the capabilities are great (Linux-powered, 3.5-inch QVGA LCD, SD slot, USB 2.0, 64MB flash, 32MB RAM, plays back MPEG, MPEG-4, Dvix, XviD, WMV, MP3, OGG, and WMA), but the gamer looks and controls seemed slightly misleading. Turns out, though, that Gamepark wasn't just fooling around about games and they are being very supportive of developers who are already porting emulators and the ever-present Doom over to the system. GP2x news has a review translated from Korean of the pre-release version of the device, including some nice pics that should give you a good idea of the menus and how it stacks up against that other portable gaming handheld.

"If the child station and comparison flaw the width some is big and the length is similar size."
"It is features which it sees from down."
My fav:
"Also the frame which protects the machinery and tools is produced with the quality of material where the luster of some is born."
Translating a Korean review to English with Google translation = sooooo not readable.
If the GP2x-F100 didn't look so hideous it would have been one heck of a PMP. Amazing format support (it even includes WMV and OGG!)
I remember seeing this in a gadget mag a year or two ago as a concept or vapor. I was happy about the emulators, and I thought I had heard MAME mentioned. The Giz mondo should have taken this route at first. Though that widescreen G2 looks cool.. especially with GPS and now not only GPRS, but GSM as well.
Does anyone have any idea if the GP2X will be available in the United States?
"Heresy it will cut to lead and from the misfortune which is various the tax collector there is a month possibility, (the }ex{: T.v out, li wool cone (development plan)
(It will grow, lik hour magnification)"
Sounds almost biblical in parts.
Gp32z will be bringing them to the US. Weird thing is the only reason I know the store is because I'm a zodiac user.
Anyway, chech it out, it's even cheaper then its parent the GP32.
>Does anyone have any idea if the GP2X will be available in the United States?
Go check http://www.gp2x.com for the list of official distributors. iirc the distributor in US is http://www.gp32z.com.
>Amazing format support (it even includes WMV and OGG!)
ogg support is here, but as they said wmv/wma support may be removed because of their proprietary nature. Looks like they are working on this to (hopefully) make it available.
Even they can't, just because it is open, sooner or later someone can make it available.
the x and a buttons are in different places, not that it really matters but I still think its kind of strange
This thing looks so damn neat-o. Portable MAME -- on a cheap system with a DECENT joystick!
If it can do full speed NES/SNES/Genesis and MAME, I'm so buying one of these.
I'll leave the PS2 gaming for the PS2.
It looks quite cool but maybe black buttons instead. But on the developing side it is perfect!
I'm no fan of loading times when it comes to portable gaming so snes genesis etc is great... cant honestly wait to get mine

Homebrew Support--that's all I need to know. I wish that they could get the support to kill the PSP here in the States. Won't happen, but I'm a pipe-dreamer. Sony would certainly deserve it.
Then, what would they do? Make some announcement on how they have a new firmware upgrade that "now supports homebrew". Oh, but not just any homebrew--ONLY THEIR HOMEBREW.
Phucking fascists.
got Quake, SNES, NES, GBC, PCE, MD support announced and it looks like there'll be a port of the pocket pc PS1 emulator too.
I've got one pre-ordered
From above the PSP, the GP2X and the ISTATION (it will grow, lik hour magnification)
You're supposed to lick ("lik") it?
The old gamepark 32 could do full speed NES/Genesis/MAME/Turbo Grafix16 so there is no logical reason why this one can't. SNES is a bit harder to fully emulate (even on the xbox and PC) but there are projects in the works.
I LICKED MY SCREEN FOR HALF AN HOUR AND IT DIDN'T WORK!

there's a new dedicated GP2X website for it's users, fans and developers. Judging by the figures released for pre-order it should be a really popular system so i've put this site up hoping it will take off and people will support the system. thanks.
