Apple introducing a Madonna iPod nano?

We still don't know for sure whether or not Apple is going to intro a video iPod next week (hey, if we did know for sure we'd tell ya), but word is going around on several of the Madonna fan sites that, in the spirit of the U2-themed iPod, Apple is planning to announce a special pink-colored version of the iPod nano for the Material Girl. Makes sense, since she helped launch the ROKR E1 iTunes phone last month and has generally been kissing up to His Steveness in interviews. If true, probably best to start preparing yourselves now for several days of awful Madonna puns courtesy of the mainstream press.

I suppose the "good news" about this would be that it would add a pink iPod nano to the roster, making up for the replaced pink iPod mini. I know many girls usually were largely attracted to the iPod mini just because it came in different colors (namely pink). This could definently help increase demand for the nano, despite the lame endorsement.

I think the Madonna Nano would sell very well. Think about it - most people that grew up with her music are in their 30's - which is usually a good time to have extra money - many are technically un-savvy (not all) - why not!

That's because you didn't actually take time to think, just shot off what lay at the top of your dome.

This is simply going to be a pink iPod nano. Madonna's branding is an afterthought. Take the U2 iPod for example, I know plenty who've purchased it simply because it's black & red and they couldn't give a shit less who Bono is.

Madonna, like U2 (and Apple itself for that matter), is an iconic figure always reinventing herself to stay relevant in today's world. Her new album alone will be enough to generate some real buzz for this product, it's basically free marketing. Apple already has two different sets of customers locked up: those buying it just because it's pink and those buying it just because it's the Madonna iPod nano.

Here's -my- prediction: demand for the nano increases even more, particularly among females.

You wish you could be a has been like Madonna is. She pulled in over $127 million on her tour last year - the number one grossing tour. Not to mention the tens of millions in other income last year. FYI she was paid $8 million for a days work for the Motorola ROKR TV commercial.

We all should be has beens like she is. Her non-existent fans seem to still be keeping her bank account overflowing. Her contemporaries such as Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, Cyndi Lauper, George Michael all wish they were has beens like her too!!!

Yeah, like U2 was the shiznick when they were signed up for their iPod promo! Don't get me wrong, I'm feeling U2, but it's not like they were the epitome of popular culture at the time. Lest we forget, Apple is a company, and despite whatever noble or altruistic pretensions we may vicariously project onto them, they are beholden to Jobs and their stockholders. Ergo, if Jobs is feeling Madonna, despite her popularity or lack thereof, and the stockholders, through the the magic of Jobs' RDF (Google Reality Distortion Field) concur, we shall see the pink, Madonna iPod. Personally, I can appreciate the contributions Madonna has made to popular music, be it her personal input or those behind the curtain. I'm with #7 on this one. Anything that increases the sales and exposure of what I feel is the best OS and computer company, to wit: OS X and Apple, is a good thing.

madonna didn't like a idea to sell the whole albums in itunes. she actually didn't believe digital music download for a long time. so did somebody say as fans that she really helped itunes, motorola phone whatever? I don't think so. Apple doesn't pick any singer to create special edition ipod. U2 is different story. they have not only higher music reputation but also involved in politics, environment. don't you remember? bono was one of Nobel peace prize candidates before.

theres deffinately somethin going on at all the places here in aus dick smith, apple store, myer etc told me apple wont send them 4gb nanos until the 12 oct i asked why but they said they dont know and they are sick of waiting for them and apple have otld them there will be a different sort of ipod coming in with them

Have any of you been to an actualy STRAIGHT club? Well I have been to many and I can tell you that Madonna's music is very popular there. Expecially remixes. I don't know why everyone is so against her. She really does make some nice techno occasionally too. She is also one of the few music artists to keep up with the times over all of the years. Why?
