Bodelin ProPrompter LCD teleprompter for the masses
As journalism increasingly becomes an avocation for the masses (we've no idea whatsoever about this trend), citizen
reporters are striving to achieve a more professional, I-know-what-I'm-talking-about appearance for their blogs
video clips. The single greatest divide between pros and amateurs is not a degree in journalism, and not even a fancy
Tom Brokaw haircut, but the timeless verbal crutch known as the teleprompter. Bodelin Technologies is helping to
usher-in this age of well-coifed and well-spoken reporting with their ProPrompter LCD, available today from the Apple
Store. The ProPrompter is a Mac and Windows-friendly unit that attaches to any DV camcorder and displays streamed
dialogue from a laptop using a mirrored image from the built-in LCD. Bodelin's kit hooks you up with a step-down ring,
protective lens hood, multi-prompter splitter, AC and DC adapters, basic software, and a hard case, all for around
$1700.

Warning, shameless plug, but I worked on a piece of teleprompter software when I was in college. The software and plans to build your own box are less than 500. Sold a lot to schools, indies, and small TV stations. I've used it, it's simple, cheap, and does the job. The big vendors make WAY too much money on this stuff.

Cool, this would be great for my school's video production system, especially since most filming is not done on a designated set

Ha Ha! If you think reporters use teleprompters in the field, and you'll be more "professional" with a teleprompter... go ahead and spend $1700... be my guest.
