Conceptronic Media Players download video, audio, stills onto portable drive
We've seen
a few devices that'll let you download media files
from your PC and play them on any TV. Many suffer from limited format support or storage capacity, but it looks
like the Conceptronic Media Player has most of those issues licked. The player, which comes with either a 2.5-inch
drive (CMED2PLAY) in capacities of up to 80GB or a 3.5-inch version (CMED3PLAY) that goes up to 250GB, can support
XViD, MPEG-1/2/4, JPEG, MP3, and AVI, along with ISO images, VOB files and CD and VCD files (they don't list DivX
support, though it may be included under AVI). Files can be transferred via USB 2.0, and output options include
S-Video and composite. No networking capabilities are included, but if you're looking to download those video
files and watch them in, say, a hotel room, it could be just the thing.

Conceptronic is a really stupid name. It sounds too much like "Contraceptronic" which makes me think of some kind of robotic condom.
Most hotel rooms have their inputs disabled on their TVs. They want you playing games and watching movies you pay them for.
I want/need a portable media player like this but which has decent slow motion and frame-by-frame controls. Anyone know of anything like that?
Totally agree. Sounds like some kind of birth control. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that someone came out with a study to say that this device will lead to sterilization.
it could possibly double up as a hdd enclosure as well eh ? ~ mmmm, won't mind that... since its media that i store.
Well this would be a really cheap way to put a media server into your car instead of having to change out DVDs.
Bad name, not such a bad product.
