Superjack remote-controlled tire changing kit
We're not quite sure exactly how new this is, but how often do we see advances in tire changing technology?
The Superjack Tire Changing Kit promises to make the task easy for even the wimpiest and laziest among us, with a
remote-controlled jack that can lift up to 2 tons of vehicle six inches off the ground. Also included in the kit
is the EZ Lug, which has a 32 to 1 crank ratio so you should be able to remove even the tightest lug nuts without much
effort. Retail price is $149.95.

Brilliant!
1. Smash the window
2. Plug it in
3. Jack it up
4. Nick the tyres
5. Job done!
All without breaking a sweat.
Anyone sell this in the UK?
This is a great thing for girlfriends everywhere.
The only problem is that these things generally don't work for cars that are low to the ground.
Did you think of all the things you can do with a remote control jack besides change your tire?
the 'hard to find tools' catalog sells a wired remote controlled scissor jack which can jack cars a great deal higher than 6" (I think it's much higher anyway). A measly 6" isn't going to do much for my silverado unfortunately. Although if they had a remote controlled bottle jack for use in my hydraulic press...
My remote control Tire Changing Kit is my AAA card.
Too bad for a lot of big SUV owners, whose vehicles weigh a good bit more than 2 tons these days, with some tipping the scales at the better part of 3 tons. For comparison, a plain-jane Ford Explorer is like 20 pounds under 2 tons, anything bigger is gonna be heavier, even some surprising "small" SUVs can weight that much.
Poster #5 (Jes) -- Do you really lift the entire vehicle to change a tire? That's some balancing act, I must say! To get an entire SUV to pivot on a jack.
Oh silly me, I've been only jacking the corner with the bad tire up... you know... perhaps only a mere 1/4th of the vehicle's entire weight.
#3,
6" off the ground doesn't mean lift your car/truck 6" total. And your Silverado is not within the 2 ton limit anyways.
Most vehicles will fall well within the 2-ton lift limit. Why? Because you're not lifting the whole vehicle!
If you have to lift 2 tons to change a tire, you're looking at full-size, heavy-duty pickup or larger.
The 6" lift is misleading. The lift really depends on how high your lift point is to start. I had to get a 3-ton floor jack for my Dodge Dakota because anything less couldn't even reach the framerail - nevermind actually lifting the truck. Also, depending on where your lift point is and how much compression your suspension has when the vehicle is at rest, this jack may not be able to get things high enough to put the new tire on.
