Oregon Scientific's MP120 waterproof MP3
Not exactly suited for a long day at the beach, the new 128MB MP120 waterproof MP3 player from Oregon Scientific may
well make up for its lack of capacity with its unrivaled versatility. We understand that 60GB makes for somewhat of a
better selection than 128MB, but try submerging both your iPod and the MP120 in a meter of water for a half-hour and
see which one comes out unscathed (disclaimer: Engadget does not actually recommend dipping iPods or any other
non-waterproof electronics in any kind of liquid). When the advertised 2 hours of MP3 or 4 hours of WMA tunes get
stale, you can always switch over to the FM radio to remind yourself why you never listen to the radio anymore. The
MP120 sports a 2-line LCD, rocks USB 2.0, and is available immediately(in the UK at least) for around $175.

yea, that's great news, because i really need to get one of those things immediately.
my iPod photo performed faultlessly after i took it swimming in camden canal one night after a hell night of drinking at a gig at the barfly. sure, it took 4 days to thaw out, and performance returned to normal after a few spluttery hiccups, but please be advised, that don't fear a little water when you're walking with your ipod in the rain, or passing a neighbours garden sprinkler, or even if you can't stand the idea of not hearing supergrass whilst you're doing a few laps down at the pool... and yes, my sony headphones now sound better after a sesh in the drink, and my datatraveller (1Gb) memory key didn't even notice. the thing is, nokia refused to fix my 7610. something about water damage.
freestylin'.
does radio work when you're underwater?
Up until very recently, Argos (UK Catalogue Shop) had a similar mp3 player, 128mb for £20, which must be about $50. Big price jump :-)

This thing has been around for a while now and IS available in the US. The 128mb version sells for $89 while the 512mb version (in black) sells for $130. Here is the info on their site:

I had a chance to review it about 5 months ago and it's a pretty good product. The display is small but not bad. If you plan to go in the water, you have to use the headphones that come with it because they have a special airtight seal that connects to the bottom of the player and the earbuds have fins on them to give it an airtight connection in your ear too. Cool concept, especially if you spend lots of time in the water.
Actually, my iPod Shuffle seems quite water proof. And permanent press proof :)

Water proof, but a scratch lightning rod.
Check ebay for lower than retail prices on both versions. Seems like a pretty good deal considering that waterproof headphones alone are hard to come by at a low price.
I live in oregon, its not in the UK.......
Hey man! take a look!

Not too well - at least in my experience. I bought one of these a few months ago to spice up my lap swimming a little bit, and I love it! People ask me if it sounds muffled under water -- not really. I think it's great!
Had a look at this a while ago - the previous versions had BIG problems with the earphones and the units also had a history of poor reliability ( about 6month lifespan). This is a shame because otherwise its one of the best value players. Shame about the shoddy support though. Amazon for some user reviews.
