Palm offers a Treo 650 SIM tray replacement
In case you missed it, Palm is offering a Cingular Treo 650 SIM tray replacement — perhaps in response to getting
sued over faulty Treo 650s. The older, faulty trays are apparently the cause of the device resetting or the radio
shutting off when the 650 is "bumped or tapped." No, you don't have to send back your 650, just follow the instructions
from Cingular or
Palm to get your swank new, user-installable ribbed SIM tray for free — even if it doesn't fix your 650
problem, at least the ribbed tray feels better, dig.
[Thanks, Christopher]

Ribber for her pleasure?
i had this problem, and all you have to do is cut out a piece of paper to fit in the sim card holder to push the sim closer to the contacts...
my treo turned off the phone feature with even the slightest bump, and since i did this there have been NO problems with it
seems easier than jumping through hoops to get it from palm
It's worth noting that you can shim the SIM card holder yourself and achieve the same effect.
And the 10.3.*.* address the Cingular page sends you to is AWOL. Who redirects to port 10052 anyway?
I have never had that problem before with my Treo 650 from Cingular.
Should i even get it?
I am glad to see Palm has now recognized the problem and provided a fix. I've had feedback from numerous Treo owners profusely thanking me for unauthorized PostIt(tm) Note fix I published back in June to resolve problem: http://www.adminitrack.com/articles/treo_650_phone_off_fix.asp
So, I have been fighting a battle related to this with Cingular for about 2 months now. Of course, according to them there are no problems. Their response "there are plenty of happy Treo users sir, so I am not sure why you are having a problem."
Needless to say, I am not having a great Cingular experience, despite being a customer for about 8-9 years.
My problem - curious to see if anyone else has the same problem - is that my phone randomly shuts itself down and will not restart the phone or any related application that depends on the connectivity. It will soft-reset, cycle and then wont allow the phone to come back on... when I try to turn it back on it causes itself to reset yet again.. AARRGGHH.
Anyone having a similar problem? I am now on my third warrantied Treo. Talk about frustrating!
New software updates too:

I never had any of issues you are talking about.
I had maybe three hard freezes since march which a soft reset fixed. I had twice now where the battery is completely drain out even though it was ok the day before. Just simply recharging fixed the problem.
The Volume could be louder but other than that everything has been great.
I even still the orignal 64k SIM Card that lots of people had problems with.
Another example of of inferior Palm quality!
