Engadget Podcast 047.5 - 10.14.2005
Apple addicts, Mac nuts, iPod fans-gather ye round and tune in! Guys, the music at the beginning of your pocast is really loud and goes on too long, while you are talking over it.
Just a suggestion to cut it shorter maybe.

Tim, the alpha version of their theme song was even worse. Now that they talk over it like Twit and Nerdblurb does, it's almost bearable. Personally, i think all themes should be either guitar, piano or violin but that's just preference. Theme isn't too long, it just needs a good ending riff.

Do you guys know anything about the Powerbook updates? I was hopeing to see powerbook updates on the "one more thing..." event. Anyone know anything!? Engadget help me!
narco @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Blair, wait until the 19th of October. If any powerbooks are to be announced, it'll be there.
Fishes,
narco.

can you please already just make a podcast link rss tag so i can just get the bloody AAC version of the podcast so i can skip chapters. Just jump to the forefront already. sorry dont mean to be pissy but its a pain in my chops to have to download it seperately.

#2. This was posted at macworld.com
"Apple Computer is once again gathering the press together as it rolls out new innovations. The latest invitation-only event will be held in New York City on October 19, 2005 on the eve of PhotoPlus Expo. Apple doesn't say exactly what the press conference will be about, but the invitation sent to MacCentral asks to join them as "we unveil Apple's latest pro innovations."
I'm guessing revised updates to the Powerbook and dual-core Powermacs.

Guys, just so you know, I think that what your podcast offers in terms of contextual discussion and inane ramblings is exactly what the audience and I really want to hear. I mean, I visit Engadget three or so times per day to check the news, learn about the gadget news and get tidbits of commentary and then read those feature articles that are purely commentary (which I love). But then we get the podcast which is so great because you guys are talking about what you've posted about and now we get to hear about the markets and concepts that they encompass, and the future, and well, you know...
In short, the podcast rocks. I wouldn't call it inane, it's more, like, a good type of rambling.
James @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
I haven't listened yet but I saw that it's only 27 mins this week - I commute every day and look forward to long podcasts to while away the miles :P
More, more!
Tim @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
I agree entirely with Carlos... if we just wanted bland technical data, we could download the white papers ourselves. "Inane ramblings" are a value added service in my opinion.
Mind you, I "work for" wehatetech.com, so I'm sort of biased toward juvenile rambling podcasts. ;-)

Hey James,
This week is a bonus mini-Podcast (we had a regular one on Monday, and we'll have another one this Monday.)
Cya,
Randall
James @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Randall: ha - yeah I noticed it was a .5 on the 'featured content' banner after I made my comment. Cheers :)

I wonder when we'll start seeing the first video podcasts formatted for the new iPod. That's surely got to be a medium that will take off now that there will be a larger audience for it.
Yavgeny Carib @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Perfect podcast. I've forwarded the link to several friends so that they can first hear your comments and second hear an excellent use of the podcast medium.
More, more more......
Shelly @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Great podcast! But have you figured out the broken image link yet? Seriously. I had the same thing happen to me and I can't figure out why my image disappeared just because I changed it.
robbie schmelzer @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Nice coverage. Love the podcasts.
Jonathan @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
hey guys i use iTunes for my podcasts, and it would be sweet to have enhanced AAC that i could subscribe to. it is too much of a hassle to download seperatly from the site then port over to iTunes for my pod. just a thought, would be great. good poscast, thanks guys.
Alan @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Peter/Ryan,
Thanks for the great info you guys kick out week after week. I listen to it going to work the next day it is released.
I love the ramblings and when you guys go off topic.
anyway my question...
At 11 minutes of Podcast 47.5, you mentioned a Jiminy 400(spelling?).
What is that?
Thanks,
Alan
Morten Skogly @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
Just wanted to add yet another request for a feed containing aac. Enhanced podcasts rock. Or perhaps you could alow one of yer fans to create one for you. Come on. Make me happy!
Drew @ Dec 19th 2005 12:54AM
I was curious about the "Jiminy" as well....
here's what I found.
http://www.cnet.co.uk/
looks like just a hard drive. I prefer the Neuros 442, which appears to have all the Jiminy has AND a small screen. This beats the Video iPod, in that you can record directly from any source with RCA plugs, and has an SD card slot.
