HTC Wizard vs. HTC Apache
One's out as the Sprint PPC-6700, this we know, and the other's anticipated for early next year on T-Mobile, and, well, shortly on Cingular (we've heard as early as this month). How'd the two stack up against one another? Surprisingly almost identically, believe it or not. We know there's usually a marked size difference in GSM versus CDMA phones, but besides some curved angles and the aerial, these two devices were nearly identical. Go HTC. Oh, and the screen on the 6700 isn't darker—the brightness level was just turned down to conserve battery life.

I was wondering if you're going to have a full blown review as I am t-mobile user but am tempted to switch to sprint, this would be the perfect step for me if I do that, however, I would consider staying with T-mobile based on this phone's performance too. I'm just skeptical of the CPU since I have a H6315 and that Omap cpu was touted to be great even at low speeds and I go nuts with how slow my phone is.

I just switched from Verizon to Sprint for the ppc 6700 and I LOVE IT. It is really nice.

I personally have not experienced EV-DO(sprint6700) but the Wizard has EDGE, The 6700 has a better processor, but it has that big antenna and does not have the same wifi than the wizard(802.11 b/g/e/i++)and you can use the wizard anywhere in the world - one thing for sure is that it doesn't matter what network you have(GSM or CDMA)both devices are very much alike and you should be happy with any of them.
engadget can you show pictures on how thick they are? thkx ~l3ny

Any word on whether or not Verizon might pick up the Apache (or any other HTC pocketPC phone)? I would love to get my hands on an HTC, but so far I haven't seen anything about Verizon picking one up. And here in Boston, Verizon is the way to go, for coverage anyway.

Whoa cowboy! As a Sprint user (company choice, NOT mine) I would have to recommend NOT switching. I don't know how well a provider T-Mobile is, but my employer currently has me researching alternatives to their spotty coverage, dropped calls, and less than stellar, hmm...rethink that, lackadaisical support.

Is there an exact date as to when tmobile will release the Wizard, and what does the price look like?

I switched from Vrzn to Tmob... well because Vrzn coverage sux here in Billyburg Brooklyn. But the guy who says he's switching from Tmob to Sprint must not live in NYC. Sprint here sux b*lls.
I plan to wait for Tmob to get the Wizard. Then I shall cast a spell of delight among all who crosseth me!

I like how folks compare these 2 without mentioning the EV-DO vs. EDGE gap.
I am currently with Verizon because i was with T-mobile and the service was horrid here in D.C. metro area. No idea how good/bad Cingular and Sprint coverage is here so i'll hope & pray Verizon gets this

Waiting for Apache on Verizon (XV6700)!!
Any news on dates? I hear as early as this month. At the DigitalLife show in NYC last weekend, a Verizon bloke nearly said as much.
Returned a new xv6600 after one weekend. Sticking with my trusty 'ol i600 with its terrific single-handed operation.

I've had sprint on and off for 5 years. In that time I've also had AT&T, and Nextel, my family has verizon and Altel. From what I've noticed is that I never have the problems for dropped calls or spotty coverage on sprint. Then again I'm always in the city and only sometimes on back roads where I lose a signal.
There is no comparing EV-DO and EDGE. EDGE is such a joke. I've been using my sprint 1RX for years everywhere and has worked great. Now the EV-DO has worked just about everywhere I've gone.
If you need access to the net don't even think about T-Mobile, go with Verizon or sprint. (I think that would be mainly determined by the coverage in your area.) The PPC-6700 I think would be such a waste without EV-DO.

Wake me up when they announce a pda phone that has EVERYTHING, including a long-lasting battery. So far, no phones have gone past the 90% features point.
P.S. What the hell is an Aerial you teabag? You mean Antenna? :p

Can ANYONE at all PLEASE provide me with drivers for the XV6700? I have a "test" unit from Verizon but was told that I'm on my own for getting the drivers. I have a UT Starcom Disc that is supposed to have drivers on it but they don't work. Can anyone help me out?
