The eBox-3800SL mini PC
Ok, the eBox-3800SL is not going to win any
mini-PC design awards based on appearance, but at
6.7 x 4.9 x 1.5-inches it's damned small and that counts for sumtin', right? Besides, this fanless, ultra-low-power
device featuring a 5 second quick boot BIOS and Windows XP Embedded is probably best off tucked away in your dash or
assembly area, dig. It packs in a VIA Eden-N Nano 800MHz processor, 256MB DDR RAM, 10/100Mbps LAN,
two USB 2.0 ports (one on front), and a CLE266 graphics chipset for crisp MPEG-2
acceleration. Just don't eat it, k, 'cause you'll miss that $365US.

Where do I put the $500 graphics card?
Maybe I'm stupid, but I see no reference to XP Embedded on the spec page?
That's pretty cool actually, does anyone retail these yet?
PS2 ports? Come on, can't we kill those damn things already? Besides, a Firewire port would be better suited for MiniDV capabilities than the antiquated mouse/keyboard interface.
hmm.. I was waiting for the Nanode, but this will do. to bad its only got 2 USB.. how about dedicated kb/mouse?
Finally, a small format PC with a reasonable price. Odd choice of +5V power input though. I would think they'd get more uptake if they put in a 12V regulator and allowed direct hookup into automotive power.
So why can't someone throw a screen on one of these and sell it for $500?
What storage does it have?
I'm still trying to figure out why this is a better option than a laptop........
Seems awfully limiting from an upgrade perspective and you'd still need to haul around k/b, mouse and LCD.

this is a thin client, isnt it?
Um... I want one.
There is no hard drive in this thing!!!! I think I'll stick with my Mac Mini!!!
It's really the memeory that is the killer here. Start playing some music and then open up your GPS program of choice and you won't be listening to music anymore! Unless somehow XP embedded is better with memory management. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, sorry.
uhh... sounds like a nice computer for a child maby, seems better than thse disney ones they try to pass off,or maby a in car computer, like in the glove box, but by no means a desktop computer
not enoguh ram, no harddrive, and no computing power, but props fpr trying the cheap mini computer
I'll assume they mean USB 2.0 "high speed". I'd love to get a few minutes in a locked room with the advertising wizard that decided to rename USB 1.2 and USB 2.0 USB to 2.0 Full Speed and 2.0 High Speed, just to confuse the consumer and unoload their crap motherboards with the "full speed" USB ports on them.
