The Nokia 7380
We already knew that Nokia was working on a follow-up to their impracticably fashionable 7280 stick phone, but now we've got both a leaked press shot and a name: Say hello to the Nokia 7380. Not sure when this one might drop (it's been over a year since they intro'd the 7280) or if these specs are legit or not, but supposedly this thing will have a two megapixel digital camera, an integrated FM tuner, Bluetooth, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE.
UPDATE: We stand corrected, this one is actually already on sale at Neiman Marcus (they're taking pre-orders for the phone which is expected to ship no later than 11/1). They have it listed for $649.00, and those are indeed its specs.

The phone is already for sale.

I can't wait to not get it.
I'm kind of baffled... why is Nokia squandering innovative interface design ideas on a micro-niche? I understand why they wouldn't make this the de-facto interface on /every/ phone they sell, but it'll never, ever go mainstream if it's only available as a fetish product.

This phone probably wont be joining me on any late night trips to the local watering hole (read: bar). But I tip my hat to Nokia for trying something different.
nice design...I like it
leave it to nokia to bring out the elsa clench in all of us
I don't know why, but this pic reminds me of a pair of shoes. Must be time to take my pills again...
Its just all about the specs now, originally it was the design and its ability to go alone.
My current lady friend has the 7280 and it freezes when she scrolls through her contact list. The woman has gone through two of them.
Is it just me, or does this look suspiciously similar to the Nintendo Revolution controller? :-p
I might actually try it, although I have to have a keypad for texting.
But what kind of memory and expansion does it have? 2mp pics take up a lot of space.
is it me or is comparing any long blocky shaped device with buttons to a Revolution controller the new hip thing to do now that the tiring 'all-white-devices-are-iPods' pronouncements have finally been beat right into the ground?
#7 elsa clench...blast from the past!
I think this is a magnificent device, I am surprised by the luke warm or negative reaction.
I think if all phones could be made so small and neat and the usability levels maintained that would be the ideal. I would rather have something small enough to go in any pocket than some of the bulky monsters we are being fed currently.
I used the 7280 (a loaner sadly - I really liked it) for texting and the text entry is quite fast - it usually guesses the next letter right after just 1-2 letters in a word - much better than the tap-tap-tap stuff on my 'standard' phone. Hope I get a chance to try this one too!
Really nice design. I like it. I applaud Nokia for having some creativity with their products, they're really the only ones out there doing anything cool and different.
