The TomTom One car navigator…with MP3 player?
GPS Review claims that TomTom is gearing up for the release of the TomTom One car navigator (artist rendering to
right). It is said to feature a touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB, SD card slot, and connector for an external antenna. It
will ship with an SD card preloaded with maps and car mounting kit and charger. If the name is correct then we might be
talking about a whole new lineup for TomTom devices — GPS Review even speculates that the One might also feature MP3
playback due to the inclusion of a headphone jack. Hmmm, that would make this a very bulky portable MP3 player or an
in-car hazard with your head tethered to the dash. But hey, we've only got a pathetic artist rendering at this point so
let's just wait and see the deets, k?
[Thanks, TJ]

I remrmber a kid that was called Tom-Tom
pair w/ a bluetooth ipod (with video) and then i'm sold
Rather than adding more features to their devices, they'd better fix the current usability issues on their devices. Looking up points of interest by first selecting a category is just not cutting it.
Just curious if the artist is pathetic, or the rendering? My vote is for the rendering since I don't know the artist.
I am also curious about this product...hopefully the release is before Christmas when I hope to be getting some SatNav unit or other.
Well I've seen the annoying commercials for this product quite a few times and I have to say as an in-car navigator it seems pretty sweet. I'm not sure, however, that the images "on screen" were real and not animated.
Well in my Saab 9-3 the thing will plug right into my aux in. Schweet!
I agree JW, hopefully the artist was only given 5 seconds to come up with a "rendering"... pretty sad...
Hmm, I wonder how long the Tom Tom will last before they blow thru all their investor's money and go belly-up? I'll give it 6 months at the most.
Would the headphones not just be used for using the navigation on foot. TomTom’s already have the ability to plan a route on foot but there is no way I’d carry my Go around town with Jane shouting “in 100 meters turn left”. If this new one is more pocket friendly then finding the hotel from the station may become a lot easier.
Until they provide the ability to download maps as their customers travel, TomTom will go nowhere. I have TTN3, but they tell me I have to buy the entire software suite again if I move to another country! What a joke. Garmin for me next time.
The commercials for this thing are the ABSOLUTE WORST I've EVER seen... Completely unclear as to what's happening, "interesting"-looking female companion, annoying male lead...
Somebody listening to too much Phil Collins?

Dammit, now there's a new one, with "DougDoug"...
Someone needs to suffer.

Actually Tomtom's pretty big company in Europe - so I'm sure they're fine financially. The TV spots are OK - but if you don't know what a in car nav does - they don't help.
By the way the idea of bluetoothing your ipod video to a TomTom just blew my freaking mind.
Artist rendering, my hiney.

It is to sad people like the_dude are so bad informed, if you look at the tomtom website you might notice they offer you an upgrade to the version 5 with all European maps (if your in Europe) for only 59 Euro, that's what i call a sweet deal, same is for the GO owners, so i am sorry to bust your bubble but your source sucks

Also I believe the 3.5mm is for the likes of an iPod etc etc ;)
The TomTom One appears to be a cheaper alternative portable GPS device. The cost in the U.K. is just 280 Pounds (US$485). You can see the TomTom One as sold in Europe already.
There is nothing about MP3 support. What I do see is a faster CPU and USB 1.1 support (not the USB 2 support as in the GO 300 or GO 700 models).

Does anyone know if the TomTom One supports the bluetooth dialing and speakerphone features of Go 500 & Go 700 ?
