Audigy 2 ZS PC notebook card reviewed

audigy notebook card

Creative may have gotten busted for overstating the specs of some of its earlier Audigy products, but judging from the review in the Inq, it looks like the Audigy 2 ZS notebook card lives up to its promise. The card supports 7.1 sound, output sampling at 24bit/192KHz, input at 24bit/96KHz, Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES 6.1 and THX. The reviewer tested the $100 card using both DVD audio for output and Cubase SX for input, and found that it delivered the goods in both directions: "Mobile audiophiles and professionals can benefit from this tiny card. You got the 24 bit sampling with no need for extra wires or power outlets. Ah, mobility at last." Just do us a favor and don't start whining when you hook this up and finally hear what your 128Kbps MP3 files sound like in all of their glorious lossiness.
