SK's Image Call: reverse ringback images
First, there were ringtones. Then, SMS, and eventually MMS. Then ringback tones. Now SK Telecom is introducing Image Call, which you can think of kind of as kind of like reverse ringback MMS. In other words, you call your friend, and you get to choose what shows up on their screen. File this one, everyone: we're predicting that by 2008 when you receive a call, no less than seventeen fully customizable things will happen simultaneously. And that's the way we likes it.

This shit is getting ridiculous.
Better hope you dial the right number before sending those risque pictures along.
My phone already farts when my brother calls, thanks for that.
..and how long will it take for people to find goat-se dot cx style images and make people see them every time they call your phone?
It would be great if it did not matter what service each phone had too. I have T-mobile, and use their ringer tones they have available. People love it, and its hilarious for yourself when people are singing as you anwser your call. Its good you can change the ringers, because it would get old after every call pickup to hear "back then they didnt want me" ->: "Now im hot they all want me, whats going on?"
IMagine with IMage call, having a do not call sign flash for some ppl, or play loud mexican polka music for those annoying ppl. You can also have -At work, I may be available [text] or have it just play music and a pic.
The future would be the user being able to take a video with sound, and have that play like a virtual anwsering machine as it rings. It may be good number of years before this comes out, although I could see being able to have music videos play on others phones before this happens.
Wouldn't a "reverse ringback image" be something that the recipient picks to show up on the caller's screen? Or is that just a "ringback image"?
What about "Caller PhotoID"?
This is a good idea. I wonder if US carriers can agree on standards for this feature. They'll probably want to charge for it though...
slowly and surely my phone battery starts to last a little less time... god knows we need MORE functions on our phones
this is turning into a battery holocaust...remember back in the 90's when you had EVERYTHING plugged into your car lighter except for your car lighter? this is kinda like that
#5, what would truly be great is when it doesn't matter that I have cingular, because they will have realized they suck in everyway and change their plans to include clear reception. And also when they release the same phones here that they do in Europe and Japan (which are much better, just compare the razrs here and there, ours sucks, their's was better). When everything from iPods to Laptops to cell phones work the way they are advertised, then we know we are off the path to hell.
