Sprint's Sanyo MM-9000 handset
Yup, looks like Sprint's new Sanyo MM-9000 handset will indeed be one of their opening-ceremony EV-DO devices after all. Further to its credit the device should have a QVGA 260k color display, 64MB of both flash and RAM, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and a MiniSD slot. It's supposed to debut for $379.99—not too shabby at all.

Should be one heck of a 3G debut for Sprint!
That looks like it'll rival anything Verizon has out for their EV-DO network right now!
It is going to kick butt with new evdo content that is going to be awesome!
This kind of pisses me off since I have the 5600. This must of been the rumored upgraded version to the 5600 with EVDO. I just hope we will be able to two-way nextel phones soon.
Amazing! I want one of those.
I had the 8100 for over a year. It was the most solid phone i'd had up till then. It fell off my motorcycle moving at highway speeds and was fine. It got scratched all to hell in its time. But it worked up until the point it got mugged from me in detroit. they replaced it with a piece of shit samsung that roamed whenever i was in my house, even though my previous phone never had ever. I replaced it with the 8200. It lives up to its predecessor.
I'd be really excited about this new one if i didn't think my 8200 would still be working just fine 20 years from now.
This will launch with the Samsung MM-A940 ($399). That one will add Bluetooth, stereo speakers, a gyro motion sensor, and of course a 2MP CCD 2x optical camera (like the A970 which it is very similar to).
The Samsung MM-A920 will come out a month later, which is basically a Sprint SCH-A950.
Sanyo will NOT be joining the Bluetooth game until 2006.
#5 What phone is Sanyo going to launch w/bluetooth in 2006?
Is this going to have a lame 16 character limit on names and calendar events like other Sanyo phones?
Very nice!
QVGA? Is that right? That'd be a welcome departure from the norm.
For $379.99, I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to buy this beauty :-) I love it!

I'm so sick of the silver/shiny designs.. Give me some fantastic violet hues, some dark green tones.. !!
Why the hell are they releasing a phone without BT anymore in this price range? Sprint/Sanyo are really behind the times on this!
I just picked up the MM-9000 from the local Sprint/Nextel store and, although a bit large, the phone is very nice. Same dimensions as the 6500, but screen is clearer and sound is better. Came with earphone/mic combo, charger, etc.. New "Power Vision" is optional and the SDmini card is a 16Mb, but overall and at first shot, this is a very solid feeling phone over my 4500 and 8300 (that I returned for this one).
I hope to write up a full review with photos later today to post online. BTW, the 6500 case fits it like a glove as layout, etc., are the same.
Very cool.

yeah i just got this phone and it is awesome. I was going to get the samsung a940, but it doesnt have ready link. This sanyo is pretty big and chunky like, but it gives u 5 full free songs when u sing up for the sprint music store on the phone and has great sound and picture quality!
9000 will be a better pick up just because of evdo. BT I know mainly used for wireless headset. You can get the adapter for that. I'll be getting the sanyo 9000 end of the week. I heard that the reception was not as good as previouse sanyo models but I want to see for myself.
