Silent mouse hack for the crazy ones
We've been planning all along to just slowly sink into a quiet
insanity caused by the never ending drone of click noises we produce, but if that's not for you, this Hajma guy has a
quick how-to guide for silencing that ever-present noise of terror. This only works on certain models, but we're sure
you'll do whatever it takes to put an end to the clickity.

This is why I love the tap-sensitive trackpad on my powerbook -- no clicky.

Oh dont make this into :upne vs. Windows, i have an emachines that does the same thing :p
I just went out of my way to buy an extra loud clickity keyboard and you people get rid of clicking noises in your mice? This is computing, your supposed to feel the input.
:S i swear that that said "apple vs. windows" before
Tactility is what makes the computing experience so human for me.
I don't want to use some device that I blow on.
I should mod my keyboard so it clicks *THRICE* when I hit a key, which would make me feel more geeky in my typing abilities.
I will then become a super secretary who makes minimum wage.
I have an MX1000 and an MX700 coupled with keyboards that sure as hell provide some feedback. I like jnasato's comment regarding the triple click--that would make me feel really big because my typing would be, or at least would sound 1337.
microsoft's wireless intellimouse has had this for a long time...alot of people don't like it at first....but i've come to really like the smooth scrolling sans clicking...
The clicking didn't bother me until I read this.
Awesome idea jnasato, of the sound of triple the keystrokes! Do more than 3 strokes, experiment till you get that right balance of amazing speed yet retaining believability.
Personally, I think silent keyboards and mouses will be great for office use. That way, nobody knows if I'm busy typing on the keyboard doing programming work, or just skiving around surfing the net with the mouse. :D
Great! Just what I needed.
I agree with the comment concerning the MS intellimouse. I have a MS Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 and couldn't be happier. BTW, side scrolling for the wheel is now a MUST for me.
#7 My friend got one of those about a year ago, and when I saw it, I went home and took my mouse apart and did this hack on all my mice! It works and feels great!
Or you could skip the microswitch dissection and simply change it out for a non-clicky microswitch. It is just a switch after all.
