VOOM to add 10 more HD channels

Voom

This could be the best "rising from ashes" story of the year as far as high-def is concerned. VOOM tried to go it alone as a satellite DTV provider by offering the most HD channels in the market. That didn't work so well and VOOM went dark in March only to be reborn on Dish Network. Dish offers ten of VOOM's 21 high-def channels currently and has plans to add more in 2006.

VOOM has changed from satellite television provider to content provider in the HD space as Rainbow Media, the parent of VOOM, is selling HD programming to other providers. The pot of gold gets even closer for Rainbow as an Asian audiovisual conference show indicated some Asian programming sales to VOOM. Looks like the word is out that VOOM plans to add another 10 high-def shows to its stables, which is great news!
