Acer n300 series Pocket PC in the wild
Oh man, we're all sloppy in our jones juices after seeing this Acer n300 series Pocket PC in the fo'real. Seeing it next to the iPod nano lets us see just how small it is even with a 3.7-inch VGA screen! Sure, those of you bent on the bulk of all-in-one convergence will miss the cellphone, megapixel camera, and built-in keyboard offered by the HTC Universal or Sharp W-ZERO3 among others. But for those of you looking for a fast, ultra-compact Windows Mobile 5.0 device flaunting WiFi, 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM, SDIO/MMC expansion slot, Bluetooth 1.2, and USB Host support – then look no further. Well, actually you'll have to keep on looking since we still don't know when this will drop, but you know what we mean. More pics after the break.

Acer n300 series vs. iPod nano

Ooo, i wouldn't mind one of those...
What's more amazing is they have an iPod nano that's scratch free...I would rather have one of those.
ohh... its so beutiful!
"What's more amazing is they have an iPod nano that's scratch free...I would rather have one of those."
The truth is that I'm still waiting to see a photo of that ultra scratched iPod nano..
I've seen nano with cracked screens, but none that has scratches that prevent reading/seeing the screen...

Engadget didn't get their cheque from Redmond, damnit.. they slipped up..
The nano's gorgeous..
PS. I love the comparaison... in a world where there's no such thing as PRICE.. sure we can compare these two products...
*ahem..
PPS. Get off your ass and get a nano
What's a CGA screen???
Remind me how many is CGA? or that just cause c is next to v... ?
seriously, i don't know which.

Would rather have the n300 than the nano
definitely more useful...
And you can still listen to music on it...
Seems to me that if Apple were the innovative engineering pioneers a lot of you make them out to be, that they would have come up with something that doesn't scratch as much as the nano allegedly does..
I thought they thought about the customer in that regard..
Nobody's perfect..
Ack! ...what has this world come to when an iPod is a standard unit of measurement?? Sick!
6/7, yes VGA. Sorry for the typo!
VGA displays on Pocket PCs are gorgeous. I just snagged me a Dell Axim X50v for $100 (one-off deal from a friend) and it's beautiful.
CGA graphics would kind of suck just a little:
"Stands for Color Graphics Adapter. IBM's first microcomputer color standard. CGA allowed a maximum of four colors at a resolution of 320 x 200 or two colors at 640 x 200."
CGA was replaced by EGA and later VGA.
Usually, a VGA screen is related to a resolution of 640x480, which sounds VERY good on a PDA :)

Hey!
I've heard enough about nanos!
But for those people in the know, any ideas about the measurements of this thing? I thought QVGA was the next-big-thing?
Looks pretty decent.
This is pretty sweet, now the 5G iPod will actually serve a purpose, as a mobile hard-drive for the Acer n300

as my native language is not english, i just wanna know what is the meaning of the sentence above.. Thanks!
t.claude, it just means we're happy in our pants...we like the n300 especially after seeing live pictures of it.
thanks, tom!
For those who are totally into this PPC (thread-crappers need not apply), I found a French retailer -- Boxprod.fr -- this morning who is taking orders (ie, not in stock, but coming) for the N311 ... for EUR322 before VAT! At the current exchange, that's about $389. Its probably an inflated price since they seem to be the only company selling any of these yet.
#15: It measures thusly: 110mm x 70mm x 14mm, 135gm. It's TINY. The original Tungsten T was 101mm x 76mm x 15mm, 159gm -- WHEN CLOSED.
