You guys are very mistaken and obviously have never owned many of the sliding cover models....I own a Sony DSC-T1 and very recently, just acquired the T5....First of all, about the cover accidently sliding, it happens so rarely, I can't remember the last time it happened and I carry my Sony everywhere I go....second of all...when it does open, it DOES NOT DRAIN THE BATTERY.....the sony has an auto shut off where it will turn off by itself when it doesn't detect a picture isn't going to be taken anytime soon.
