Motorola RAZR V3c coming to Verizon on November 28th
No official announcement yet, but a Verizon Wireless employee has confirmed over at Howard Forums (again with the Howard Forums!) that the carrier is going to start selling Motorola's new RAZR V3c beginning November 28th (so don't blow all your cash on Black Friday). We don't have a price yet (hopefully they won't try to get away with charging $499 with a two year contract), but we do know it'll have Bluetooth (crippled, of course) and a 1.3 megapixel digital camera.
[Thanks, CoreyTheGent]

they are saying dec 7th in online..and dec 12th in stores
anyone know how much this razr is going to cost
i just talked to a verizon rep and my friend an insider from verizon, they both said dec 9th
the cost is going to be $399 with a $75 rebate
but if you believe anything you read then they will give you and additional $100
I went to a Verizon store today and they said the tentative on sale date for the RAZR V3c is Dec 12, 2005. They emphasized that the date was tentative and unofficial.
Word coming from www.howardforums.com is that the Verizon V3C is NOT crippled. OBEX is enabled! You can transfer files from your phone to your PC and back via bluetooth and USB! Woot!
Awesome! Can't wait to pick it up on wednesday....It even says on verizonwireless.com that you will be able to transfer pictures and files wirelessly using bluetooth, so i assume that's OBEX. Good thing I just got the bluetooth USB adapter on my alienware laptop, so i can order the RAZR in 2 days =P
I don't think it's that much...i think it's going to be $299 plus a $100 mail-in rebate with a 2 year contract renewal. So actually only $199...that's a good price for a phone that kicks this much ass...It's going to far surpass the regular v3, especially because of cingular and cell one's completely shitty service =)
I FINALLY bought a razr for verizon at Best buy today in Reston, VA. I have a friend who works there, and he let me know they got a shipment of 10 of them. I then went to VZW to have my phonebook transfered and they were all in awe, like "where did you get this, we dont have this phone out yet?"
I paid 378 - full retail. The software really is crap - I had the verizon software on my LG but it worked great - it seems like they just stuck the software onto this phone and didn't care that much if it didn't match up (IE u can not get to ur contact by hitting the down arrow, you can not use speakerphone in a call, the front screen image is not sized correctly, etc). My recommendation would be to wait until they work all the bugs out.
I purchased the Motorola Razr V3c on verizon wireless's site and paid $99. $299 minus $100 online discount minus $100 new every two discount.
Does anyone know if you can put motorola's software on the phone? The verizon user interface really stinks (I had it on a previous LG phone and it worked great). The front screen looks horrible, and you can not set it so that the down arrow goes to your contacts, like on most phones.. Instead you have to go to "contacts" softkey then scroll down - just an annoyance. Thanks
when you look at the flash demo on verizon's website, one of the icons in the floating circle on the left is a bluetooth icon. when you click on it, it flashes pictures of bluetooth headsets, moto/oakley bluetooth sunglasses, and a laptop computer. the fact that they're showing a computer makes it seem as if you could connect over bluetooth to a computer. but you can't. i called verizon today, and the salesperson couldn't tell me anything. he said there were no technical people who would be able to tell me more. all he could do was give me motorola's phone number, which i then called. they said that, per verizon's fiddling, pictures/addresses/other OBEX can only be transferred via usb (not my idea of a good time, nor my idea of why to buy a bt phone). in my opinion, flashing a picture of a computer in the "bluetooth" section of the razr website amounts to false advertising. although there is fuzzy disclaimer writing at the bottom of the page, this is still not enough to undo the fact that they flash a picture of a computer. verizon may have the best network, but they definitely have the worst phones. we can now add worst advertising ethics to that list...
Well, just got my phone today (internet order). I must say I was surprised, but I thought the Razr was metal casing or at least metal bezels, instead it's plastic, but feels solid.
The graphics seem ok to me. Quite clear for the screen size. Still figuring out the menus, definitely more meat than the old moto menus.
The literature and CD do indicate it does *not* support Bluetooth OBEX.
Bluetooth profiles supported: headset and hands-free car kit.
Capable of synchronizing data with PC; requires purchase of Motorola data kit
Comes with/uses a "mini" USB charger and can be charged from a PC using a USB port (requires cable purchase or data kit).
So far, except for cheapie-plastic feel, the aesthetics are fine. True test will be performance.
Cheers ....
can't you get the phone unlocked so you can use all the features? and at the same time, can't you get a new interface for it as well? many people do this service for others. of course there is a cost, but there is a way to enable all the functions
Might check motomodders web site at http://motomodders.net. They have all sorts of cracks.
Update to earlier post. After some research and according to the Moto web site, the data kit is not available for this phone, as of yet. That also means the PC-USB charging won't work because it needs drivers for that function. Interestingly I found one over on Canada's EBay (the auction had ended) that was billed as compatible with the Verizon V3c.
Es ist halt so.
Didn't have a clue this was coming out until last night when I went into get a new phone and renew my contract. They didn't have to try hard to talk me into buying it. Since my parents work for United Technologies, I got the phone for $149 plus a $100 rebate for extending my contract. $50 and I am loving the phone.
I've already used Adobe Audition to cut out a 30-second .mp3 and I transfered it to my phone using a free online service. (funformobile.com) Ringer works and sounds perfect. Video/image quality sucks but much better than my old Samsung a670. Voice recognition and speakerphone are very good and the calls I've made so far have been perfect.
Highly recommend Verizon and the new RAZR V3C. Can't wait to get a legit USB-cable and software to transfer and backup data.
T-mobile & Nokia suck.
A few questions.
Can someone confirm the statement that the v3c is actually a plastic casing? if so, then WTF!?
Without the USB cable for the pc, is there no way of getting pictures from your phone to the computer??
I can confirm the case is plastic.
"Without the USB cable for the pc, is there no way of getting pictures from your phone to the computer??"
There is. Other forums have suggested the first few thousand fielded are OBEX capable, whether it was a SNAFU or what, some suggest it might not last when VZW realizes it; check MoMo and CPF forums.
I was having a date/time update issue, it wasn't doing it unless a call was made or navigating the menus. It was recommended to turn off the phone over night and after powering up the next day, it should begin to update D/T automatically: It does.
