Multipot combines LED lamp with charging station
The Multipot may look like an ordinary flowerpot — albeit one
with a power line snaking out behind it — and that's the idea. The pot, available in black, white, silver or brown, is
actually a multi-outlet strip where you can plug in all of the chargers for your cellphone, digicam, audio player and
so forth. Stuff all the wires in, snake the connectors out through the top, and you've got a base station where you can
place everything while charging. There's an LED lamp on top as well, making this useful as a nightlight. Of course, at
close to $300, it's just a bit more expensive than your standard power strip and LED USB light, but if you just can't
bear to have a nest of wires marring your sleek designer loft, this may be just the right accessory for your nightstand
or foyer.
[Thanks, Mark]

Hmm... Interesting. Time to wait for the generic $30 version. :)

So you'll make a $20 profit if I buy for $30? :)

$300? Maybe if it used induction...

Okay... I want one, but $300 for a plastic pot with a powerstrip and some LED lights? Come on... that's way too much money.

Alternatively, they could have attached a short neck, a light bulb and a matching shade to the top of it, and then we would have had a more useful piece of over-priced clutter.
Then again, I do like the idea, so I think I'm gonna go build my own for about twenty bucks, just like everyone else here.

I think you'll find its made of glass, though the manufacturers' web site (http://www.multipot.it/eng/home.html) has so much to say about its archtitectonic properties that they ran out of space to mention what its actually made of.
Of course, the logical thing to do, would be to stick some amplified speakers in the base and a Bose label on front. Then it would be worth $500 of anyone's money.

I have a hard time seeing how the cost of the products exceeds $20. It wouldn't be that hard to build one either, which I might just do for the dorm room.

Blarg! I've been waiting for something like this forever. My personal piece of dream furniture would be a night stand with this cable management built in.
With all of my rechargeable gadgets I really need it. Right now they're all just lying about on the floor getting tangled every 13 seconds.
I have two cell phones, soon to be three (barf!), a bluetooth headset, ipod, psp, blah blah blah.
I'm tempted to purchase that cordination station posted by 'b'. But I would love to have something to put my phones on at bed level and be able to charge it at the same time with some semblance of cable management.
Anybody have any fantastic product to recommend?
