The Philips RFID-enabled Herbarium
One of Philips's more peripheral health-technology projects that managed to slip past undetected is their Herbarium,
an RFID-enabled herb greenhouse. The Herbarium detects which herb you've planted in its tagged pots in order to
produce ideal growing conditions, so you can easily and conveniently harvest your own fresh parsley, sage, rosemary,
and thyme without those annoying trips to Scarborough Fair (or Whole Foods).

This is a great gadget... This could be very helpful in growing another certain herb that wasn't listed in the post :) ...
Philips is a Dutch company, right? What else could you possibly grow in the Netherlands to take advantage of this kind of technology?
lol 1 & 2: I like the real question on everyone's mind. :-p I was wondering, too...
Wow that is one smart veggie
Quickly!
To the Herbarium!
Great gadget? :D What it does? Does it humidifies the air, waters the plants, gives them manure or muck or compost? And moreover, does it work only for sage, basil and thyme or with every kind of plant? Maybe it has a programmable-environment for each kind of plant or a C++ for plants... :P
Nice Idea on the surface but very dangerous technology.
It's very irresponsible to be promoting RFID before the privacy issues with RFID have been resolved. This just gets the public used to a technology that can be used to track or access your personal data with out your knowledge.
No pot is mentioned in the article. Seems a lot lower powered that the traditional ones.

Think of the children you sick bastard!
What about us who care for a different herb in our pasta sauce, coffee, butter, brownies, pipes, bongs and vaporizers?
Mmm ... Herbarium.
